Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Legacy of Lies by Christy Barritt

Book: Legacy of Lies

Author: Christy Barritt

Genre: Suspense

Release date: November 15, 2021

The justice system failed her family—and so did her hometown.

Madison Colson knows deep down that her father—a convicted serial killer—is innocent. But believing it and proving it are two entirely different things. Unable to help her father, Madison has spent most of her adult life overcompensating by helping others. When her aunt dies unexpectedly, duty calls her back to Fog Lake, Tennessee, a beautiful but painful place she’d rather forget.

Terrifying events begin to unfold once she arrives, unleashing her worst nightmares. The Good Samaritan Killer—or a copycat—is back, and now Madison Colson is his target.

FBI Special Agent Shane Townsend is determined to stop the deadly rampage that has sent the tightknit community into a frenzy. But he needs to earn Madison’s trust first. The task feels impossible, especially considering his father is the one who put her dad in prison.

With the whole town on edge and pointing fingers, tension escalates out of control. Madison and Shane must sort the facts from the lies—and fight for a legacy of truth—before The Good Samaritan Killer has the final say.

Mystery and Suspense books were not a favorite genre of mine until I read one of Chirsty Barritt's books. I now enjoy the genre and I enjoy Christy's books. I recently read Book 5 of the Fog Lake Suspense series, Legacy of Lies: The Colsons.

Madison Colson has always loved her Hometown of Fog Lake, Tennessee. She had to move away years ago when her father was convicted of being a Serial Killer after many women were killed in Fog Lake. Madison has to return to Fog Lake when her Grandmother passes away. She is hoping to return to a town that is now peaceful. Unfortunately, not too long after returning it seems the "Good Samaratian Killer" or a Copycat has also returned to Fog Lake. Madison has always believed her father is innocent and is not the Good Samartian Killer, even though he was convicted of the crime. Shane Townsend, an FBI Special Agent, is assigned to investigate the new troubles in town. He believes Madison is the newest target of the Serial Killer and he needs to protect her throughout the investigation. Madison will have to trust Shane, even though Shane's father was the one who bought the charges against Madison's Dad. The Residents of Fog Lake are getting agitated at the fact the the Serial Killer is back. Will Madison learn to trust Shane and fight against the Serial Killer together? Will there be a Romantic spark between Madison and Shane? Will the Serial Killer be caught?

WOW, another gripping Suspense Book by Christy Barritt. I was captivated from the very first chapter and did not stop until I was done reading. Author Christy Barritt really made this book particularly exciting. I kept reading and I thought I had the suspect figured out, but so many twists and turns, showed me to be incorrect. That is all good with me, that is what makes a book soo good! Madison was scared at the thought that the Serial Killer could be one of her brothers. Shane Townsend was an AMAZING character in this book. He wants to protect Madison while investigating the current events in Fog Lake. The book was  a quick read, but an EXCELLENT READ! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Mystery and Suspense!

More from Christy

I wrote Legacy of Lies after watching an interview on TV of a woman whose father killed several people. I tried to put myself in her shoes. How did she cope under the weight of what her father had done? How did people treat her differently? How did her father’s decisions affect her future? From there, I had the idea to highlight a group of three siblings who were dealing with this. I’d already done another four-book series in the mountain town of Fog Lake, Tennessee, and I really loved setting those books there. I decided to revisit the area and make it the place where these three siblings had grown up—and where they had to return.
