Falling for the Cowboy Doc JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Falling for the Cowboy Doc by Cari Lynn Webb, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Falling for the Cowboy Doc

Title: Falling for the Cowboy Doc
Series:
Three Springs, Texas #4
Author:
Cari Lynn Webb
Publisher:
Harlequin Heartwarming
Release Date:
June 27, 2023
Genre: Contemporary Romance (Clean)

Can the rodeo cowgirl…

Win his love?

Professional roper Maggie Orr needs to secure a national sponsorship. And orthopedic surgeon Grant Sloan could derail her plans. Falling for the cowboy doctor is a distraction she can’t afford… Plus their careers are taking them in opposite directions. But from picnics to stargazing, Grant is reminding Maggie that there’s more to life than winning in the arena. Can they rewrite their dreams to include each other?

I really enjoy a good Romance book and I also enjoy Harlequin Heartwarming books. The books are short and easy to read. Falling for the Cowboy Doc by Cari Lynn Webb is the latest book that I have read. It is Book 4 in Three Springs, Texas series. I have read a couple other books in this series, but they all seem to be great Stand Alone Books also.

Maggie Orr is a Professional Rodeo Roper. She LOVES her career and is very committed to it. Grant Sloan is an Orthopedic Surgeon, well known by the Rodeo Professionals. He is filling in for the regular Rodeo Dr. when Maggie meets him while accompanying her sister to an appointment. Grant has no intentions of staying in Three Springs, TX as he wants to work in California. He has some rethinking to do when he meets Maggie and they begin a series of date nights. Grant and Maggie are both career focused, but could they be what each other needs? Neither is looking to be in a relationship right now, Will the pair chose love over careers?

I LOVED this book from the very first chapter! Maggie and her sister are quite surprised when they see Grant Sloan in the office rather then Dr. Toro. Maggie LOVES her professional career and I was pleasantly surprised at how she slowly opened her heart to Grant Sloan, especially since he is the brother of her best friend. Grant is also career focused. I really enjoyed reading how the 2 families have known each other for a long time.  I think my favorite part of the book is when they eventually let their guards down to be open to a new relationship. WONDERFUL BOOK!

JustRead Tours Blog Tour: Charting the Course by Leslea Wahl

Charting the Course JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Charting the Course by Leslea Wahl, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Charting the Course

Title: Charting the Course
Series:
Finding Faith series
Author:
Leslea Wahl
Publisher:
Vinspire Publishing
Release Date:
June 27, 2023
Genre:
YA Christian Adventure

Stuck on a ship with her estranged father for this high school reunion – not a merry way to spend the holidays. But could an onboard mystery and a cute boy be the course correction Liz needs?

Set amid the beauty of the Caribbean islands, Charting the Course delves into the topics of fractured families, generational high-school dramas, taking responsibility for your actions, and focusing on faith to keep us anchored. The twists and turns in this high-seas adventure will keep the reader bracing for the next wave of intrigue.

I really enjoy Christian Romance books. I don't normally read Young Adult Romance books, but I read Book 1  in this series and really enjoyed it.  Charting the Course by Leslea Wahl is the most recent book that I have read and will be sharing with you.

Liz has been invited to join her estranged Father on a 10 day Caribbean Cruise. She is not exactly thrilled about going, but figures it is a way to spend time with her Dad. Her Dad is busy with High School Reunion activities and Liz is getting bored. While that is until a Mystery Note, a boy her age and a mystery come about, Liz finds herself in a bit activities. Liz then finds that her actions have created some major consequences for herself and she begins to see her true self under the wall she built up. Can Liz come back to her faith and create a better life for herself? Will Liz and her Dad ever recover from their estranged relationship?

WOW, I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did the first, but I actually like it more.  Liz was very gracious to accept the trip with her estranged Dad in hopes to reconcile the relationship. I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this storyline, especially Liz trying to solve a Mystery aboard the Cruise. I think this book really touches on many things that Young Adults go through in life these days. The book is on of Mystery, Self Discovery Forgiveness and FAITH! I highly recommend this book for Young Adults and anyone who enjoys Christian Romance. WONDERFUL BOOK!

Caryl McAdoo is one of my ultimate favorite authors. I am always ready to read her new books as they are released. Ava is Book 34 of the Prairie Roses Collection, a collection of standalone novels by Various authors.

Ava May is only 17yrs old, but she is embarking on a journey to become a Mail Order Bride. Ava has decided to move from her humble Family cabin in Louisiana to the Great Skys of Montana where she will be matched with someone to marry. Ava is doing this not so much for her, but for others, She is promised enough Gold to help her ma pay off her deceased father's debt and that alone makes her make the decision to do this. She is on a Wagon Train with other Mail Order Brides and she meets someone on the Wagon Train. Ava is a woman of strong faith and knows the man she marries should be a Christian also. Will Ava find her match on the Wagon Train or will she find her match in Montana? Does she stick to her faith and marry a Godly Man?

.I LOVED this book from beginning to end! I enjoy storylines of Mail Order Bride, but this was had a wonderful twist to the story. Ava is a strong young woman of Faith and I LOVE that she is only seeking a Godly Man to marry. Ava is taken on a adventure to make this dream come true. The travel on the Oregon Trail via Covered Wagon was dangerous at times, but Ava kept her faith and it worked out for her. This is a book of Faith, Love and Family and Adventure. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who enjoys Historical Ficton. FANTASTIC BOOK!

Award-winning, Christian author Caryl McAdoo prays her story brings God glory. Of her best-selling novels, readers love her historical Christian romance family sagas most, but also enjoy their contemporary cousins, Caryl’s Biblical fiction, her historical mystery series, and tales for young adults, mid-grade booklovers, and pre-K through 2nd grade picture books.

The majority of reviewers award her stories five-stars and praise Caryl’s writing style, citing her extensive research and the depth of her characters.

The prolific writer loves singing the new songs God gives her almost as much as penning new novels—hear a few at YouTube! She’s been married to Ron fifty-five years, and they share four children and twenty-five grandsugars. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl

2023 is the fifth annual Prairie Roses Collection, and I’m so excited to add AVA to my contributions for this multi-author, covered-wagon-stories project! The sojourners of these grueling treks fascinate me, willingly suffering such hardships and walking two thousand miles for a fresh start.

In fact, Ava May Harley never wanted to leave her home, a log cabin her father built in Skeeter Bottoms. She was born there, but with her Pap gone, for her family’s sake . . . The Word says if we don’t take care of our own, we are worse than an infidel, right?

What have you sacrificed for the sake of your family?

What immediately comes to my mind is the time we gave up our “golden years” and put off our empty-nest for fourteen years to take in four precious grandsugar-sons when we were fifty-two. They were six, four, three, and three-days-old.

Had we not, CPS was going to remove them from our family and spread the brothers out among strangers. Ron and I couldn’t let that happen and asked them to leave the boys with us. Of course, we thought it would only be for a few months.

We assumed their parents would attend the required classes and ‘get clean’ Figured we could do anything for a couple of months, right? The short months turned into years. Each boy left when the graduated high school, except the baby. When the third brother left, he asked to go with him to the other grandmother’s. He was fourteen then.

When people asked how we did it, there was an easy answer. 😊 “Only by the mercy and grace of God.” The boys are grown now. The oldest is a fire fighter, and the youngest is a Marine. Ron and I have enjoyed our empty nest since 2017 (at 67 years of age), but we miss our fellers!

In AVA, my sweet heroine was only seventeen when a cousin dangled gold coins in front of her broke and bereft mother. Ma could buy a proper gravestone for her dead husband and pay off his debts if she would only send her firstborn off to marry a stranger in Montana.

My brave and independent character made her own decision to make the journey for the betterment of her family and count it a great adventure. As the miles piled on top one another, taking her farther and farther from her life in the Louisiana swamps, the only home she’d ever known, she doubted her decision more than once.

Her strong faith in God worked with her naivety and kept her on the Oregon Trail, moving ever toward her future. When a person knows God has a plan, and believes they are on that very path, there’s no reason to be afraid or worry. She knew God would never leave her or forsake her.

She knew how completely trustworthy He is.

I fell in love with this precious character, and I hope you will, too. I hope you will enjoy going along with AVA on the harrowing journey!
How involved have you gotten with a book character in the past? Share the character’s name and the book’s title if you will in your comments below! 😊

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: A Not So Peaceful Journey by Sandra Merville Hart

Book: A Not So Peaceful Journey

Author: Sandra Merville Hart

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release date: June 13, 2023

Dreams of adventure send him across the country. She prefers to keep her feet firmly planted in Ohio.

Rennie Hill has no illusions about the hardships in life, which is why it’s so important her beau, John Welch, keeps his secure job with the newspaper. Though he hopes to write fiction, the unsteady pay would mean an end to their plans, wouldn’t it?

John Welch dreams of adventure worthy of storybooks, like Mark Twain, and when two of his short stories are published, he sees it as a sign of future success. But while he’s dreaming big with his head in the clouds, his girl has her feet firmly planted, and he can’t help wondering if she really believes in him.

When Rennie must escort a little girl to her parents’ home in San Francisco, John is forced to alter his plans to travel across the country with them. But the journey proves far more adventurous than either of them expect.

I am a fan of Historical Fiction and I really enjoy reading books that are part of a series. I have been reading the Second Chances series by Sandra Merville Hart. A Not So Peaceful Journey is Book 3 in this series. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book!

We are taken back to Hamilton, Ohio in 1884. Rennie Hill and John Welch have been a couple for a few years. Rennie has been through some hurdles in life, but she feels secure with John Welch. John loves his job writing for a newspaper, but he dreams of becoming a Published Author and traveling the world before settling down. Rennie doesn't want those plans, but she tries to encourage him. John has the opportunity to travel from Ohio to California when Rennie and her Sister help transport a little girl from Ohio to California. Rennie's sister Veronica is going along and Rennie worries about travel as they don't always get along. John agrees to travel along and the adventure begins for Rennie and John. Will they get the little girl transported safely? Will the Adventures in Travel help or hinder John and Rennie's relationship?

WOW! I am sad that this is the last book in this series. I truly enjoyed this book, probably my favorite in the series. I LOVE how Rennie and John have overcome so many things in their relationship to get to where they are in this book. John has dreams and is unsure if Rennie really wants to support those dreams. I LOVE how everything works out for Rennie and John to travel from Ohio to California and that their relationship seemed to make great strides as they spend lots of time together. The book has many twists and turns, but the Historical part is so wonderful. This book is about Dreams, LOVE, and Achievements. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. FANTASTIC BOOK!

More from Sandra

It was fun to invite readers on this book’s journey!

To those who lived in the 1880s, venturing into this newly-settled and largely-unsettled West had become much safer—though not without danger—with the system of railroads already in place. I enjoyed taking readers to Chicago, Omaha, Oakland, Ogden, and Sacramento, as well as frontier towns along the journey such as Cheyenne.

Our heroine is a telegraph operator. She temporarily leaves her job to escort a little girl to her ailing mother in San Francisco.

My research about telegraph jobs taught me quite a bit of terminology.

For example, a clatter arises when another operator “calls.” The call begins with something like “B m—X n”, which means the B m is the station receiving the call and X n is the caller.

B m must signal a reply that she’s ready to receive the call.

The Sounder receives sounds of the alphabet in dots and dashes. Some operators sent messages too rapidly to understand. When this occurs, the receiving operating asks for it again with a Break (she opens her “key” to break the circuit) and interrupts with “Please repeat.”

“G.A. the—” means “Go ahead” and “the” was the last word she understood.

Operators end every message with his/her own private “call” as well as the office’s call and “O.K.” at the end of each message.

Wired Love, which was written by telegraph operator Ella Cheever Thayer in 1879, provided many insights about the job’s daily tasks.

One of them was the lack of privacy on the lines. She can hear the messages sent to other wires but only offices on the same wire. In Wired Love, operators heard messages sent to and from twenty offices.

By the way, the public grew so fascinated with the role of women in telegraphy that it became the topic of romance novels and short stories, creating a new genre called “telegraphic romance” in the latter 1800s. That’s a little-known fun fact for you!

I enjoyed writing this series. I invite you to read the whole “Second Chances” series beginning with A Not So Convenient Marriage, Book 1, A Not So Persistent Suitor, Book 2, and A Not So Peaceful Journey, Book 3.
