JustRead Tours Blog Tour: To Catch a Coronet by Grace Hitchcock

To Catch a Coronet JustRead Takeover + Review Blitz

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for To Catch a Coronet by Grace Hitchcock hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

To Catch a Coronet Title: To Catch a Coronet
Series: Best Laid Plans #1
Author: Grace Hitchcock
Publisher: Kregel Publications
Release Date: May 21, 2024
Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Sometimes the only way to outsmart a scandal is to find a crown big enough to silence it

Muriel Beau, country baker turned heiress, can't stop instigating outrage. She discards two arranged engagements, then further antagonizes Kent society by publicly proposing to a baron at a ball. His rejection leaves her with no choice but to flee to the city and to secure a coronet so splendid that her peers will forget her debacles. The glitter of the London courts convinces Muriel that it's possible to find the future she dreams of, until she finds herself entangled in yet another escapade--one that may cost her more than her crumbling reputation.

After years of serving as a privateer under an assumed name, Captain Erik Draycott, heir to Draycott Castle and soon to assume his uncle's title of Earl, returns to his London home to find it in disrepair thanks to his longtime nemesis. A staunch bachelor intent on returning to his ship, the captain is shocked when his mentor encourages him to take a wife. But while his alleged pauper status causes the potential London brides to turn their noses up at him, the ladies of Kent have no such qualms and are eager to fill his coffers with their fathers' wealth.

Caught in a whirlwind of high society and high seas, Muriel and Erik navigate a risky undertaking that threatens their futures and creating stakes that soar above the masts of Erik's ship. Will Muriel's bold charm and Erik's daring bravery be enough to outsmart the scandal and secure a future as glittering as the crown Muriel seeks?

"To Catch a Coronet by Grace Hitchcock is perfect Regency! This hilarious novel has it all: sparkling dialogue, a spunky heroine with a penchant for baking, and a dreamy hero who loves her in spite of her antics. I loved it and highly recommend!" --Colleen Coble, USA Today best-selling author of Fragile Designs

By the time her apple pie was ready to come out of the oven and her second batch of vanilla scones
was ready to go in, she had a comforting sheen of sweat on her brow and her prayers had turned
into singing—or rather bellowing—her favorite hymns. Wiping her hands on her apron, she worked
out a recipe that she thought would be a match for the sponge she had tasted and promptly dropped
during her calls this morning. She rose on her tiptoes to reach the tin marked Flour on the third shelf
in the dry larder, which was acceptable if one was of an average height, but Muriel, being only an
inch over five feet, could only scrape the bottom of the ten-pound tin with her fingertips. She
snatched her wooden rolling pin from the table and used the tip to scoot the tin to the edge of the
shelf, intending to catch it as it fell.

A man’s large, calloused hand shot above her head and seized the tin. “Allow me to assist you.”
Her song strangled itself in a gasp. Whirling, she rammed into his arm, causing the tin to slip from
his grasp and the heavy pin from her hand. Both knocked him on the head, loosening the lid and
showering them with flour as he fell to his knees with a grunt and then collapsed face flat onto the
brick pavers.

“Lord, have mercy.” Muriel clutched her hand to her throat and sank to her knees beside the
crumpled giant. Grabbing his muscular right shoulder with all her strength, she flipped the man onto
his back and saw at once that his left arm was in a sling. His large, Grecian nose trickled blood from
his fall to the bricks. Other than that and the lump already forming just below his thick chocolate
hairline, he was in marvelous physical condition. With his impeccable jawline and the sun-kissed
skin that she glimpsed beneath the flour, she knew he had enjoyed fine health before waltzing into
her kitchen. She leapt to her feet and ran for the pitcher of water on the counter. Pitcher wrapped in
her arm, she dipped her fingers inside and flicked water onto his flour-covered face as if he were a
pie crust, continuing the practice until a fine paste had formed on his forehead and a moan escaped
his full lips.

“Oh, thank God. I haven’t killed him,” she whispered, sinking onto her heels and wiping her forehead,
feeling the grit of flour roll across her skin. She leaned over him, her dark hair spilling free from her
coiffure over her shoulder, flowing down to his chest. “Sir? Are you hurt badly? Sir? Can you hear
me?”

A devastating argument
One reckless decision

An unforgivable sin

Successful Manhattan businessman Richard Brooks is living the dream, drunk with success and all its trappings, until one reckless decision turns his dream life into a living nightmare.

Richard flees to Minneapolis where he repairs ancient boilers instead of solving corporate problems, and he's determined to live the solitary life he now deserves.

Executive Sheila Peterson has other plans for the handsome custodian. Richard appears to be the perfect match for the no-strings-attached romance she's after, but she soon discovers that he's hiding more than the designer clothes in his closet.

Richard can't deny the allure of a relationship with Sheila. The closer they get, though, the greater the risk that she will discover not only who he used to be but also the unforgivable sin he committed that reckless night.

I really LOVE Christian Romance books. Chain of Mercy by Brenda S. Anderson is the latest in this genre that I have read. It is Book 1 in the Coming Home series. I actually read the prequel to this book and was excited for Book 1.

WOW, Just WOW! I was reeled into the book from the VERY beginning!  The main characters of the book are Richard, Sheila and Meghan. Richard is my favorite character as he really had a strong story and overcame so much in this book. Sheila became a GREAT friend and more for Richard and truly helped him in his recovery from Rock Bottom. I LOVE how the romance blossomed between Richard and Sheila. The author does write about sensitive topics but does so with grace. The book has a STRONG Faith message and I truly LOVE that! The story is one that focuses on Family, Faith and leaning on God rather then on our own understandings. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance! I am looking forward to future books in this series! GREAT BOOK!

Christian Suspense novels are a genre I have really come to enjoy over the last couple of years. Forgotten Secret: A Psychological Suspense Thriller by S.F. Baumgartner is the most recent book in this genre that I have read. It is Book 2 in the Mirror Estate series. I have not read Book 1 yet, but this book seems to read well as a Stand Alone book.

The storyline starts out STRONG and it captivated me from the very beginning. I was very intrigued by the main character, Clara Khoury, who had been living with memory loss for over 2 decades. The finding of a woman's body triggers her to remember her past and sends her life spiriling downward. She wants to investigate the finding of the body and how the woman might have something to do with her past. She really struggles when her daughter is kidnapped and her husband is being framed. I really LOVE the determination of Clara throughout the book to save her family and recover from the memory loss. The characters in this book have a strong faith and rely on God to help them through the struggles. There are so many twists and turns in the storyline. The author ends the book with a BIG Cliffhanger, so now I anxiously await the next book! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Suspense Novels. FANTASTIC BOOK!

S.F. Baumgartner is a Christian suspense thriller author. She graduated from the University of Hawaii and the University of Cincinnati. When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her cats, staying active, and binge-watching crime TV shows. She lives in Ohio with her family

Why I Wrote “Forgotten Secret”: The Continuation of a Thrilling Journey

Writing a sequel can be a daunting task, especially after a book like “Living Secrets” leaves readers hanging on the edge of their seats. But when your mind is brimming with ideas and the story just won’t let you go, you have to give in and write the next chapter. That’s precisely what happened with “Forgotten Secret,” the second book in the Mirror Estate series.

After penning “Buried Secrets” and “Living Secrets,” I found myself immersed in a world of untold stories and unresolved mysteries. “Living Secrets” ended with what some called a cliffhanger – a term I might softly contest – but undoubtedly, it set the stage for a compelling follow-up. I knew I had to deliver on that tease, and the journey to “Forgotten Secret” began.

The seed for this story was planted in a bonus scene of the prequel, hinting at a character’s disappearance. I had a rough outline: a disappearance, an aunt’s involvement, and a human trafficking angle. However, the real story was still elusive, waiting for that spark of inspiration to ignite it.

And then, as fate would have it, I stumbled upon something about amnesia. Suddenly, the plot began to take shape, transforming these disjointed ideas into a coherent, thrilling narrative. This serendipitous moment was a reminder of how stories can evolve from the most unexpected sources.

Writing “Forgotten Secret” was an adventure in itself. Scenarios would pop into my mind unbidden, each vying for a place in the story. Some made the cut, while others were set aside, perhaps to be revisited in future works. The suspense thriller genre doesn’t traditionally lend itself to “fun” in the conventional sense – it’s all about tension, suspense, and that edge-of-your-seat feeling. But that’s exactly the kind of excitement I wanted to capture in this book.

I’ve always been intrigued by the unpredictability of the thriller genre. As an author, you’re constantly walking a tightrope between revealing too much and not enough, all while maintaining that relentless pace that keeps readers turning pages. It’s a challenge, but one that I find incredibly rewarding.

In “Forgotten Secret,” I’ve tried to create a roller-coaster of emotions and plot twists. I want readers to experience that heady mix of anticipation, shock, and satisfaction as they journey through the book. My hope is that they find themselves fully immersed in the story, living through each revelation and cliffhanger as intensely as I did while writing them.

Thank you for joining me on this thrilling ride. I hope “Forgotten Secret” keeps you guessing, leaves you breathless, and, above all, lives up to the secrets it promises to unveil.

Contempory Women's Fiction is a favorite genre of mine. No Tomorrows: A Novel for Today by Deb Gorman is the most recent book in this genre that I have read.

I always LOVE a book that really makes you ponder about thing and this book did that for me. The concept of this book is very intriguing: "What if Tomorrow never comes?". Annie is the main character and in the course of 24 hours she looks back at her past, looks at herself today and looks at what could happen in the future. The book has some sensitive moments from Annie's past as some tragic events happened to her in her childhood. Annie went through many transformations in her life and forsees others in her future. The book was a quick read but it also is very emotional to read about the struggles Annie went through. The book is very inspirational and can make a person ask themselves the same question Annie asked and searched for herself. The book is filled with intrigue, faith and some tragic and sensitive moments. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Women's Fiction. GREAT BOOK!

Her purpose is to connect with God’s most beautiful and clever creation, the human family, using the literary talent and imagination God gave her. Her prayer is that as she journeys with you, together you will discover encouragement and redemption in your most important relationships.

More from Deb

No Tomorrows-A Novel for Today came about because of a question I heard.

“What would you do today if you knew without a doubt you would die tomorrow?”

It’s an old question that’s been kicked around for decades, but when I seriously put my shoes into its footprints, I found I could not answer it with anything other than cliches. Those cliches, like “Eat chocolate all day”, or “Do that last thing on your bucket list” didn’t sit well with me. I wanted a real answer, one I could hang my hat on—as one character in the book says. I suspected that my readers want a real answer for themselves, too.

Annie Lee, a typical suburban mother of four, is confronted with that question, and spends a harrowing twenty-four hours navigating the answer for herself. In the uncertainty of our times, this question is particularly important for us to consider. Perhaps we’ll agree with Annie Lee’s answer.

Along with a book and a $50.00 Amazon card, the lucky winner will receive a custom-made No Tomorrows pen, created by my author friend, Steve Hooley, at https://SteveHooleyWriter.com, from Big Leaf Maple wood grown and harvested in the Pacific Northwest.
