Danger on the Ranch by Dana Mentink is the first book in a new series for this author. It is part of the Love Inspired Books. I am a HUGE fan of Love Inspired books and though Dana Mentink is a "new to me author", I was excited to read this book.

I will be honest, Suspense books are not normally a Genre that I read. Something about the title, the synopsis and the fact that it was about Cowboys and a Ranch, drew me into the book. I started reading the book a few days after I received it. It was a rainy Saturday and felt it was a good time to read. I am glad I choose a Rainy Saturday to read, as once I started reading, I couldn't stop. YES, this book most certainly is filled with Suspense and wonder, twists and turns and more.

Danger at the Ranch has a couple main characters: Mitch who is a former US Marshall who helped send his brother to prison. Wade is the brother who went to prison for being a Serial Killer. Mitch retires to the Country Life and thought he had relaxing and stress free days ahead. That is until his brother escapes prison. Mitch then has to protect his ex sister in law and her son from Wade. Will Mitch be able to protect Jane and the son, or will Wade find them before Mitch can protect them? You will have to pick up this book and find out!

Danger at the Ranch is a FANTASTIC book and it is a short, easy book to read. I was able to read the entire book in a couple of hours, as it is also HARD to put down once you begin reading. Dana Mentick is a GREAT writer who truly puts the title "Suspense Author" in play! Danger at the Ranch is filled with Suspense from beginning to end. This book rose way above my expections and I am glad I took a chance to read a genre I normally don't! FABULOUS BOOK!!

We’re kicking off a new cowboy series, but this one is going to take you for a wild ride! Set on a ranch that’s sandwiched between the sea and the hills required me to do some on site research of course! I spent quite a while in this gorgeous area of California, looking for cattle. (You can see the zany results in my video.) I found the cattle, and also the perfect setting for this first book. It’s a creepy one, I’ll warn you, as hero Mitch Whitehorse comes face to face with the serial killer brother he sent to prison….and his desperate ex sister in law. Saddle up and enjoy the story! God bless!

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour and Giveaway: This Healing Journey by Misty M. Beller

Book: This Healing Journey
Author: Misty M Beller
Genre: Christian Historical Romance
Release date: July 18, 2019

The mountain wilderness of her family’s home in the Canadian Rockies is all Hannah Grant has ever known. Now at the age of twenty-four, she’s on a journey to help her father to find the son he gave up for adoption three decades before. This is Hannah’s chance to discover the life she’s missed out on so far—and hopefully find a husband along the way. But she certainly doesn’t plan to fall for the first man she meets. Years in the Calvary provided Nathaniel Peak with more than his share of violence and adventure. That life behind him, he wants nothing more than to settle down in the beautiful Montana mountains and raise his own stock—in peace. The last thing he expects is the savagely wounded child who shows up in his barn. Nor the woman he comes to rely on for the girl’s care. Hannah can’t help but fall in love with the brave Indian child who so desperately needs her, but no matter what, she can’t let herself fall for the man whose past choices go against everything she believes in. As the situation grows worse, Hannah and Nathaniel are forced to make a heart-rending decision to save the girl’s life. Little do they imagine, the choice they make could spell disaster for them all.

This Healing Journey is the 7th and final book in the Heart of the Mountain series. I have not read the first 6 in the series, but I found this book to be a GREAT stand alone. I did not have any trouble following the storyline in this book!

I jumped right into reading the book and was enthralled by the story the entire book. Hannah and Nathaniel are the 2 main characters of this book. Also, a part of this book is Hannah's father who is on the search for his son that was given up for adoption as a baby. Hannah and Nathaniel's LOVE story has many twists and turns, but they both have a faith that allows their love to endure. Want to know more, GRAB the book and you will not be disappointed!

I really enjoy books that are "can't put this down until I finish" and Misty M. Beller is an author that I have come to enjoy! I have only read 3 of her books so far, but I am on the hunt for more! GREAT BOOK and FANTASTIC Author!

Misty M. Beller writes romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love. She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and children now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.

More from Misty

Occasionally I hear readers debate about whether they prefer to read a series of books from an author, or only standalone novels. Personally, I love series—both reading and writing them. There’s something about seeing characters I know and love from past books that makes me warm and happy inside. Can you relate? One of the first series I wrote, the Mountain Dreams Series, included five books that told the stories of several families intertwined through marriage and God’s connections. Those characters are still so dear to my heart! When book 5 ended, I had so many readers ask for more in the series, I began dreaming of a spin-off series with a very special connection to the hero in book 5. Enter: the Heart of the Mountains Series. I’ve LOVED every story in this 7-book collection, taking each journey with the characters as I laughed and cried and uncovered their secrets. For the final 7th book, I’m thrilled to announce that I’m reuniting many of the characters from BOTH series! Simeon Grant (from Heart of the Mountains, book 1) goes on a journey to find the son he gave up for adoption as an infant (the hero in Mountain Dreams, book 5). This Healing Journey has its own leading lady, Hannah Grant (the baby born at the end of This Treacherous Journey, all grown up and as tough as any lady raised in the Canadian mountain wilderness). And a new character, Nathaniel Peak, who stars as the hero (and who I fell in love with IMMEDIATELY!). Even if you’ve never read any of my stories, I think you’ll enjoy this one. Especially if you love adventurous mountain stories as much as I do!

Celebrate Lit Review Promo Blast: Harbor Secrets by Melody Carlson

A Peaceful Coastal Town…Threatened by a Storm of Secrets

It's 1916 when newspaper woman Anna McDowell learns her estranged father has suffered a stroke. Deciding it's time to repair bridges, Anna packs up her precocious adolescent daughter and heads for her hometown in Sunset Cove, Oregon.

Although much has changed since the turn of the century, some things haven’t. Anna finds the staff of her father’s paper not exactly eager to welcome a woman into the editor-in-chief role, but her father insists he wants her at the helm. Anna is quickly pulled into the charming town and her new position…but just as quickly learns this seaside getaway harbors some dark and dangerous secrets.

With Oregon’s new statewide prohibition in effect, crime has crept along the seacoast and invaded even idyllic Sunset Cove. Anna only meant to get to know her father again over the summer, but instead she finds herself rooting out the biggest story the town has ever seen—and trying to keep her daughter safe from it all.

Melody Carlson is a favorite author of mine! She really has a great writing style. Harbor Secrets is Book 1 in a new series "Legacy of Sunset Cove".

Harbor Secrets is set in 1916, during the Prohibition times, in a quaint Oregon Coast town. The time and town setting drew me in right away. I really like Historical times and I especially like Quaint Towns.

I dove right into reading this book and it captivated me from Beginning to End. Newspaper Reporter, Anna McDowell, returns home to take care of her ill father and to help run his newspaper. Anna writes stories under a Male name, due to women just getting many rights at this time. The town is not happy that Anna is in charge of the paper, and things in town start to get tense. Anna sets out to investigate some drama in town and finds herself the love interest of a few bachelors. Anna also has a reconilation with her Dad during the time she is caring for him.

Harbor Secrets is an EXCELLENT book! It is a book of Suspense, Forgiveness, Overcoming stereotypes of the time, LOVE and Secrets revealed!! I highly recommend this book as a Summer Read!!

Love at first sight. It’s every girl’s dream. But Tara Simpkins is finding out it’s not as easy as it seems. The recent loss of both parents has left her reeling, and close friends don’t think she’s in any position to make major life decisions. She and her new-found love are convinced they can live happily ever after in the home of their dreams. Do you believe in Love at First Sight? Well, the 2 main characters in this book do! Tara suffers a devasting loss of both parents. She is getting some work done on her home and along comes Luke. They fall for each other rather quickly, even thinking about marriage within 2 weeks. Those around Tara and Luke believe they are moving to fast. Can they survive the critics? Can they find happiness being married to each other?

I really enjoyed this book from the very beginning. LOVE comes at times when we least expect it. That is what happens with Tara and Luke. Luke can be a little to controlling, but I see their relationship flourish as the story goes on. I love a Good romance story and this book delivers!

Celebrate Lit Review Promo Blast: Painter Place by Pamela Poole

In June of 1985, Caroline Painter's uncle whisks her away from her island home at Painter Place to film an art video in the harbor village of Mevagissey. But instead of clearing her head, the young artist becomes entangled in adventure on the English Channel when she influences a rock star's contract and the media launches her into fame. When she returns home, she discovers a shattering secret that makes her question everything in her life. Can she trust the only one who says he understands?

Pamela Poole is a "New to Me" author, first time reading one of her books. I struggled getting into the story as at first there was a lot going on in the book. I continued reading and I began to understand the book a bit more.

Caroline is the main character of the book and though she thought she was going away for some rest and relaxation, she ends up in a bit of a mess. The other characters in the book make the story line interesting and a good read.

I was able to finish the book, although it took a few times to reread some parts to understand it. Decent read!

Pamela Poole's love for the South inspires all her books and paintings. She has written three novels and two short stories that take place on the fictional island in the Painter Place Saga, and she will launch the fourth book in 2019. Pamela is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and various author and artist organizations. She and her husband Mark live in Raleigh, North Carolina.
