Delia and the Drifter is a Christian Western Historical Fiction.

Delia Blackstone is a young lady of marrying age. Her mother

has someone in mind for Delia to marry, but Delia is not wanting

to be a part of marrying a much older man. Delia decides to travel

West when she finds out a secret about her past and needs to

figure out who she really is. She heads from Pennsylvania to Colorado,

and along the way meets Wyatt. Wyatt is someone who goes from

one place to another, a drifter. Delia is at first hesitant to get to know

Wyatt, but as she does she finds herself drawn to him. Delia travels to

a ranch with Wyatt, and while at the Ranch there is a murder which leads

to mystery. Will Wyatt and Delia have a future together? Will the murder

mystery be solved?

WOW, this book really has a lot of action and is a total page turner!

I really like that Delia decides to venture out and find out about her

past and hopefully take her away from the arranged marriage she

doesn't want to be a part of . The relationship formed between Delia

and Wyatt is really heartwarming. Melody Carlson is a GREAT author

and the book flows really well. GREAT storyline and book!

Melody Carlson has written more than 200 books (with sales around 6.5 million) for teens, women, and children. That’s a lot of books, but mostly she considers herself a “storyteller.” Her young adult novels (Diary of a Teenage Girl, True Colors etc.) appeal to teenage girls around the world. Her annual Christmas novellas become more popular each year. She’s won a number of awards (including RT’s Career Achievement Award, the Rita, and the Gold medallion) and some of her books have been optioned for film/TV. Carlson has two grown sons and makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and yellow Lab dog.

I love historical stories about women. Particularly ones in the American frontier and old west. Probably because I grew up hearing pioneer stories from my grandparents, whose parents arrived in covered wagons. But contributions made by pioneering females is often overshadowed by their male counterparts. That’s why I enjoy researching and telling these fictional yet reality-based stories of women who lived and loved and did their part to settle the frontier. To me they are the unsung heroes of the West.

I haven't always been a fan of Regency Era books. It has only

been in the last year or so that the Genre has really become

on of my favorite genres of books. Winning Miss Winthrop

by Carolyn Miller has convinced me how GREAT Regency

Era books really are.

Catherine Winthrop is really struggling with so much right now.

She is having to move out of the home she has lived in for a long

time after her Dad suddenly passes away. An unexpected twist,

the guy who broke her heart a few years ago, becomes the heir

of her father's estate and home. Jonathan Carlew is taking over the

home and Catherine is trying to keep her distance. Due to the

circumstances of passing the house along, avoiding him isn't an

option, they are needing to communicate about the handlings

of the home. Each time they must meet, there is squabbling.

Catherine and Jonathan are in a crunch and must make some

decisions. Could these decisions bring them closer? Could things

have a positive future for the former couple?

I LOVE this book! I was hooked from the first few pages. Catherine

and Jonathan have quite the past and when tragedy brings them

back to one another, they take it all in stride. They lean on their

faith. The book is about forgiveness, moving forward, changes

and friendships. GREAT BOOK!

In 2015 I was fortunate enough to visit England and see my sister who was living there at the time. What followed was three weeks of visiting parts of England, Ireland and Scotland in a whistle-stop tour of some of the places I’d long dreamed about visiting, but never thought I’d get the chance: London, Brighton, the Blarney stone in an Irish castle, Chatsworth in the Peak District, Loch Ness and Culloden in the Scottish Highlands, the gorgeous grounds of Dunrobin Castle, and the beautiful Cotswolds of England, which includes World Heritage-listed Bath.

I’ve used many of the places I’ve visited as inspiration behind my historical stories, but none as much as the places I visited while in Bath. Pretty much every place I visited – Sydney Gardens, Bath Abbey, the Pump Room, The Assembly Rooms and more – were mentioned in my story Winning Miss Winthrop, which I view as my homage to Jane Austen’s Persuasion, which vies with Pride and Prejudice as my favorite Austen novel.

I loved my all-too-brief time in Bath, and I love this story, with its depiction of two people learning to overcome the misunderstandings of the past in order to find a future. Winning Miss Winthrop is the first book in the Regency Brides: A Promise of Hope series, and has the attention to period detail, romance, banter, and faith threads that readers in the Regency Brides series have come to expect. I hope readers enjoy Catherine and Jon’s story.

I really enjoyed Alabama Days from the first page. Daphne Self has a great writing style. Alabama Days is the first book I have read by Daphne Self, but it won't be the last. GREAT BOOK!

Why Did I Write What I Wrote?

One question that is always asked of me: “How did you come up with your book?”

Well, it is simple and complex. Like the helix shape of a DNA strand that holds four proteins in an infinite combination, my ideas are a lot like that. My first book, Mississippi Nights, started off as a book from my childhood. I wrote One Big Happy Family when I was about 16. It was buried and put aside for so many, many years. And after the line-of-duty death of my husband in 2005, the idea of resurrecting that novel percolated for some time. Finally in 2010, I took the story, revamped it, and drew from life to create a story about the prodigal son who returns home to family. It wasn’t just his story, but a story about his brother, a family friend, and a little girl. Mississippi Nights brought to life the story of alcoholism and how a person can fall into that addiction.

After that book was published, I started thinking: “What if someone saw death, hurt, and sorrow on a daily basis? What if that person didn’t have Jesus to lean upon? What would he do?”

And that’s how Alabama Days was born. While Mississippi Nights dealt with alcoholism, Alabama Days dealt with drug abuse, and in this case, prescription drug abuse.

Yet it was much deeper than that. What if the person was a really good guy? He was likable, generous, loving, yet he lacked that one relationship that would bring him peace. If he were someone who did what was right, no matter what, what would happen if he committed a wrong act only to find that his wrong act saved the life of another?

I had so many ethnical questions thrown at my characters. How would a Christian and a non-Christian react to certain circumstances. Because life isn’t always clear-cut, yet the Bible is, I wanted to show the messiness of being human.

We know that as Christians, we all fall short. We all sin at times. The difference is that when we sin, we know we can receive forgiveness and “Go and sin no more.” But how would a person who ran from God think? How would I react if I were like him?

Writers play around with what-ifs. We see the many facets of humanity. And that’s how our stories are born. And why we write what we do. For me, I want to show the many sides of human nature and behaviour and show that in all things, Jesus is the answer. Jesus is there for us all.

So, why do I write what I do? To bring glory to His Name and hope that through my words, people will come (or return) to Christ.

I am a generally excited when it comes to Christian Historical Romance. The genre is one of my absolute favorite genres to read. I was intrigued that this bookalso includes Mystery/Suspense genre. Camille Elliott is a new to me author.

Phoebe Sauber just received news that she has to move out of her Father's house as he is getting remarried. To deal with the stress from this news, sheattends an Archery event with her friends. Phoebe takes an arrow and aim, and fires. Her arrow doesn't quite make the target, it instead hits a paperbeing held by Michael Coulton-Jones. Phoebe hasn't seen Michael in a long while. Michael has been on a "mission" for the past few years, when his brother was murdered. Michael quit his job as a spy for the Foreign Officeand has been on a personal mission to find the group who poisoned his brother. Michael has befriended, Apothecary Jack, who has connections

to the underground world of poisons that supposedly give men superpowers. The "run in" with Phoebe and her aunt may have saved Michael from a trap from the Mysterious group he has been involved with and Apothecary Jack. Phoebe, her Aunt Laura and Michael begin working together to solve the new information they have come across. Will they be able to solve the mystery or will they keep uncovering more information and clues? Will therebe a Romantic Connection between Phoebe and Michael?? Ohhhh, you will just have to grab a copy of this book to find out!

I have to admit it took me about 3 Chapters to really get into the book. The bookstarts off slow and has so much information and happenings in the first few chapters. I finally got to a point where I was understanding all the characters and storyline and then it was hard to put it down. The book really sped up when the characters all were interested in the new happenings and clues. I felt for Michael and his loss. I love how Phoebe and Michael lean on each other to get through the difficult points in life. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it for those who

like the Regency time period and romance. Good Book!

I love Regency romances! I started reading them when I was 13 years old and haven’t stopped since.

There’s something about the Regency time period and culture that’s glamorous and decadent and the epitome of elegance. The resplendent dresses! The brooding, romantic Lord Byron and the distinguished Beau Brummell! Dashing naval captains and army lieutenants, glittering ballrooms and winsome debutantes!

The flip side of my personality loves romantic suspense and action adventure. I love seeing strong women face danger with courage and smarts, and strong men willing to do anything to protect their loved ones and fight for justice.

So, basically, the Lady Wynwood’s Spies series grew out of my desire to see Mission: Impossible in the Regency era!

My Regency “IMF” team is brought together when my spinster heroine, a botanist and a skilled archer, discovers that her late uncle had ties to a mysterious group. She goes to her aunt’s best friend, a gentleman who has secretly been a spy for decades, and he forms his team of ex-agents and uniquely gifted civilians to battle this group of alchemists who want to ensure that Napoleon wins the war with England. (Cue the Mission: Impossible theme music!)

I’ve also structured the series a little differently. It’s a very long serial novel, similar to a Japanese manga or light novel series, with 12 volumes that each have a completed story arc, but the main plot isn’t resolved until the end.
