Susan May Warren is a favorite author of mine. She has collaborated with Various authors to present the Deep Haven Series. Andrea Christenson has written the latest book in Deep Haven Series, Hangin' by a Moment, Book 5 in the series. I have been blessed to have read other books in this series and was excited to read this book also.
Jack Stewart has just been released from prison and his only request is to start life anew where no one knows him. His friend, Boone Buckam, has just the place for him to retreat to. Boone helps Jack secure a job as a chef in the town of Deep Haven. Colleen Decker, is from Deep Haven, but currently working in Minneapolis. She has a situation arise in the Trauma unit where she works as a Nurse and it brings her back to the Trauma she experienced in her teen years. She thought she had been able to move forward in life, but this recent event has her taking a break from work and heading home to Deep Haven. She wanted to come home and take a break, but somehow she has found herself taking a job as a Flight Nurse for the towns Crisis Response Team. Her Instructor for the Flight Nurse job is none other then former ParaRescue Jumper turned Chef, Jack Stewart. Jack has promised himself when he first arrived in town that he wanted to keep to himself and not get too involved. He also doesn't want to get his heart involved. Colleen and Jack find themselves attracted to one another as the training continues. Small town means that everyone knows one another and information spreads fast. Will Jack be able to hide the details of his conviction? Will Colleen be able to feel safe with Jack and being in Deep Haven again? Will there be a romance between Jack and Colleen?
Awww, I truly enjoyed this story. Jack and Colleen both come to Deep Haven around the same time, but for different reasons. I really like how someone helped Jack get a new start at life in Deep Haven. Colleen does trust those in Deep Haven, her hometown, and feels comfortable with her new job and especially her Instructor. Jack and Colleen have troubled pasts and through their friendship they seem to gain confidence in their own lives and one another. I really like how the relationship evolved and carried on. I was hooked on this book from the first chapter and finished it in about 3hrs! FANTASTIC BOOK!
