Blossom Turner has fast become a favorite author of mine. Lucinda's Defender is The third book, in the Shenandoah Brides series. I have read the first 2 books in the series and have been excitedly awaiting the release of this book!

Lucinda Williams has made some bad decisions throughout her short 15yrs of life. She now finds herself in quite the predicament. She is married and expecting a baby that was not planned. Her family and her lifelong Childhood friend, Joseph Manning, had warned Lucinda about Nat, the man she is now married to, but she didn't heed their warning. Lucinda has matured a bit due to her current situation and now realizes that her marriage is not what it should be. Joseph continues to really CARE for Lucinda and really wants to rescue her once again. Lucinda really admires Joseph and the fact that he wants to be a part of Lucinda's life and that of her child. Lucinda has a deep secret that might change Joseph's mind about being a part of Lucinda's life. Will Lucinda tell Joseph her secret? Does Joseph have a chance with Lucinda? 

WOW, I am just blown away by this book. I jumped right into the book and did not put it down for 3hrs, when I finished it. The story and friendship of Lucinda and Joseph was just remarkable. Lucinda can be stubborn, but having a child really changes her and makes her grow up fast. The care and concern Joseph has for Lucinda, even when she is in a troubled relationship is just AMAZING.  I really like how Joseph really makes Lucinda feel like a woman rather then the abusive relationship she has been in. The Author, Blossom Turner, does a wonderful job addressing some sensitive topics including rape, domestic violence and abuse. Lucinda's Defender is a book about Friendship, Second Chances, Forgiveness and Healing. I really enjoyed this book and HIGHLY recommend it!

Do You Enjoy Romance That Keeps You Thinking Days Later?

Long before I even knew I could write, I loved to read. Being a hopeless romantic I gravitated to all romance stories either contemporary or historical. I soon realized that finding clean fiction but still written with the passion God created us to experience, was hard to find. (Song of Solomon is a good example of the expression of passion and love between a man and woman without being explicit.)

Where-as book one was set in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, post-civil war, the second book Amelia’s Heartsong took place in the big city of Richmond Virginia where balls, debutants, pomp and circumstance matter. This third book, Lucinda’s Defender is back in the valley once again.

Have you ever made decisions that you wish you could unwind? If that is a yes, then you will relate to young, beautiful, sassy Lucinda who at the age of sixteen is forced to live with her adult choices. By seventeen her world crashes in doling out a future no woman deserves. But God is a God of second chances, and handsome Joseph a worthy life-long friend and hero. Passion, love, and undying devotion make this read a romantic page turner sure to keep you awake into the wee hours of the morning.

Although this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, enjoying the whole series as the family saga unfolds will deepen the experience.
