A 1930s Historical Romantic Mystery This page-turning novel offers a sweet, slow-burn romance mixed with cozy suspense. Set during the historic III Olympic Winter Games—the first year women’s speed skating was featured—it unfolds against the snow-covered, high-stakes press boxes of Lake Placid, New York, in 1932. Perfect for fans of Rhys Bowen and J’nell Ciesielski looking for an inspirational read.

Historical Romance with Mystery is a favorite Genre of mine. Sabotage Games by Danielle Grandinetti is Book 2 in the Di Stasio Giornaliste Agency. I have been anxiously awaiting this release as I read Book 1 in this series.

The storyline captured my attention immediately with intrigue and action. The setting is Lake Placid, NY in 1932 during the III Olympic Winter Games. The main characters are Emma Hancock and Ryan Callahan. Emma is a Sports Journalist who is covering the Olympic Games. The interesting thing about Emma's job is that Sports Journalism was a Male Dominated career in the 1930's, yet Emma was determined not to let that stop her from doing a job she loves. Ryan Callahan is an Olympian for Ice Skating. Emma is covering the games and then she has to switch into investigative mode. The Olympic Athletes are becoming very sick and Emma has a hunch that it is a form of Sabotage. Ryan Callahan meets Emma as his family has opened their open to Guests during the games. Ryan and Emma are both concerned by the number of Athletes who are becoming sick and they decide to join forces to see who is behind the possible Sabotage and creating illness at the Games. Ryan is determined to help solve the mystery at hand, yet he also doesn't want distractions from the Competition. Ryan begins to be smitten by Emma and Emma also takes an interest in Ryan. The pair are not sure if they would make a good couple, especially since Emma is not from New York and the relationship would be long distance. I really LOVE that Ryan and Emma give the relationship a go, especially since they know Emma will be back in New York in a few short months. I also really enjoyed the Mystery of the book and how they were determined to solve who is out to sabotage the athletes. The story had me on the edge of my seat for both Mystery and Romance. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I am now invested in this series and looking forward to future books. WONDERFUL BOOK!
