Christian Historical Fiction is a genre that I LOVE to read. Sparks of Hope by Avrie Swan is Book 3 in the Peshtigo Fire Chronicles series. I have read the other books in this series and was excited to read this book also.

I began reading and could not put the book down. The storyline is very intriguing from the start. The main characters in this book are Willow Deeran and Valentine Ashardt. Willow had dreams of being a Teacher, yet when the Fire destroyed the City, she felt her dreams were gone. Willow discovers she has an opportunity to help when she begins to notice all the homeless children. Willow decides to open an orphanage to house the Children. Valentine is still grieving as he lost his daughter in the Fire, yet he is also hopeful. Valentine joins Willow in opening the Orphanage as an Investor Partner. Willow and Valentine are on track to get the Orphanage open and then attacks begin coming at them. I really LOVE that they rely on their Faith in God to get them through the Mysterious attacks. I also LOVE that they have a growing relationship and find comfort in one another throughout the trials of opening the Orphanage. Valentine and Willow realize that their hopes and dreams sometimes don't align, yet God's plan is always greater then their own. The book has a strong Faith aspect, also Historical and Mystery. I HIGHLY recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction. AMAZING BOOK!

It’s hard to believe Sparks of Hope is the third and final entry in The Peshtigo Fire Chronicles series. Writing this book was bittersweet… but also undeniably exciting. Willow and Valentine’s story took me some time to develop, and the result is a book with a lot of heart. Their tale explores themes of found family and growth while also rounding out Carina and Charlotte’s journeys. I hope you enjoy the conclusion to their stories!

One of my favorite elements in Sparks of Hope is Valentine’s occupation as a luthier. My family has always enjoyed music, and since I took violin lessons for several years when I was younger, I thought it only fitting to include a violin maker in one of my stories. I didn’t know much about the process of building violins when I started my research for the book, but I soon discovered it’s a fascinating and detailed craft. I have the utmost respect for the skilled people who shape the instruments enjoyed by so many.

While music plays a small role in Sparks of Hope, the story’s central theme is purpose. Have you ever wondered what God’s plan was for your life? That question weighs heavily on Willow’s mind after a disaster ruins all her carefully laid plans. She finds herself needing to choose a new path and pursue a different dream…although achieving it may not be quite as simple as she hopes.
