"Wounded Tiger" by T. Martin Bennett is a riveting narrative that weaves together the lives of three individuals against the backdrop of World War II.
The first is Mitsuo Fuchida, a Japanese pilot who led the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. Fuchida, filled with a deep-seated hatred for America and a strong sense of national and racial pride, rises through the ranks of the Japanese Navy. His life is driven by revenge, but he ultimately finds peace with himself and his enemies.
The second is Jake DeShazer, an American bombardier burning with a vengeance after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He joins the U.S. Army and spends years as a prisoner of war, battling insanity in solitary confinement. His life takes a turn when he discovers the secret to change.
The third narrative involves the Covells, an American family of missionaries in Japan. They flee the country to the Philippines, and their eldest daughter, Peggy, unknowingly impacts the course of Fuchida's life forever.
This book is a testament to the power of transformation and redemption. It's a journey through hatred and revenge, surrender and transformation, and it reveals how ordinary lives lived out faithfully to their calling can impact the destiny of a people and a nation.
"Wounded Tiger" is more than just a historical account; it's a vivid tale that lets you watch the story unfold before, during, and after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. It's a story that shows the true impact of this infamous event in world history.
I really enjoy Historical Books, especially when they are Non-Fiction books. Wounded Tiger by T. Martin Bennett is the latest in this genre that I have read.
I was intrigued by this book from the VERY first Chapter. I feel I learned so much about Pearl Harbor that I didn't know before. The author really did his research for this book and the writing is very easy to understand. World War II is one of the most significant parts of History and the author truly makes everything come to light through the storytelling in this book. The stories of the 3 families featured in this book are heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I also saw God's hand throughout the Families Stories. I HIGHLY recommend this book to those who are LOVE History Novels and learning about important parts of our History! GREAT BOOK!
- Wounded Tiger reads like a novel because it is a novel with authentic details found in nonfiction while maintaining the dynamic “now” feel of a dramatic character-driven story.
- Over 300 photos, maps, letters, and images
- Three main plotlines and stories begin separately, but slowly come together in an unpredictable and captivating way.
- Includes historically accurate perspectives of the Pacific War from both the Japanese and American sides.
- And Wounded Tiger takes the reader through a host of social issues and ideological conflicts through the characters' viewpoints.
After attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, T. Martin Bennett served as vice president of a nonprofit company with Keith Green, a leading recording artist, public speaker, and writer. He later co-founded a manufacturing company that grew to over 100 employees, 20 million dollars a year in sales, and won the national Small Business Administration Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In 2005, Bennett stumbled across rare information about Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Tennessee-based author, screenwriter, and entrepreneur says, “I’d never heard a single word about Fuchida, other than that he was a villain.” But as he started researching Fuchida’s life, Bennett wondered how the world hadn’t heard about this incredible story and felt he had to tell the world. After three years of research, Bennett first penned this as a feature-length, epic screenplay—later novelized into book form.
He is currently working on securing funding to send “Wounded Tiger” into production as a feature film. Bennett is also working on 20+ other feature films and film series projects.
