Dana Mentink has become one of my favorite authors. I have read quite a few of her books. Pint of No Return is Book 1 in her newest series, Ice Cream Shop Mystery.

Trinidad Jones is newly divorced, from a man who has now been divorced 3x, and ready for a fresh start. She decides now is the time to open up her dream business, a shop that makes Gigantic Milkshakes. The Shimmy and Shake Shop is up and running in Sprocket, Oregon and life seems to be good for Trinidad. Life turns upside down in Sprocket, when on of the ex-wives of Trinidad's ex-husband is accused of murder. Trinidad is the one who discovered fellow business owner Kevin, the Popcorn King, with his head down in his huge Popcorn Kettle. Trinidad becomes a "Super Sleuth" and tries to help Juliette, one of the ex-wives, prove that she did not murder Kevin. Will Trinidad and Juliette get along so that Trinidad can help her? Will Juliette be innocent? Will the Police and Townspeople gain respect for Trinidad "super sleuth"?

WOW, what a page turner Mystery book! I was hooked from the very first page. I really like that Trinidad is an independent woman and knew her dreams and sought out to achieve them. I also liked the "Small Town" neighborly theme of the book. I also like the team that Trinidad hires to help her. Quinn and Doug make a great part of the story. Her dog Noodles, is really the "star" of the book! Together Trinidad, Quinn, Doug and Noodles set out to solve a mystery and makes the book super interesting. The book is not predictable and kept me guessing throughout and I LOVE books like that! The mystery is solved and I was quite surprised!! FANTASTIC and COZY book!

Freakshakes. The name says it all, right? Allow me to explain. A freakshake is a milkshake festooned with so many extras (sprinkles, cookies, candy, donuts, cake, slabs of pie) that it is hardly liftable. It is the stuff my sugar fantasy dreams are made of! Now picture a freakshake shop called the Shimmy and Shake in the quaint and quirky town of Upper Sprocket in Eastern Oregon. Known as the “Swiss Alps” of Oregon, this fictional place is the new home to a woman named Trinidad Jones, a lady starting out on the second phase of her life after her husband’s betrayal. Sprinkle in a dose of Papa Luis, her darling Cuban grandfather (inspired by my own Cuban grandfather) who drives a classic Buick, and a devoted service dog flunk out named Noodles. You know what’s missing? A murder, of course! That happens shortly after Trinidad opens her new shop, and from there on out it’s a sticky, spine tingling, sweet and satisfying and slightly funny adventure in mystery land. I had an absolute blast writing the first installment in this series, and I’m knee deep in the second as I write this.
