As sparks fly between her and Hollis, Emily is drawn to island life, even as she uncovers shocking secrets about the tragic accident that led to her mother’s death. Summers in Nantucket are something I only dream of, it just seems so serene and beautiful. I got a bigger glimpse of what that would be like by reading "If For Any Reason" by Courtney Walsh.

Emily Ackerman has been a "World Traveler"  with just her letters from her deceased Mother and her compass. She heads back to Nantucket after a business failure to take care of a house she inherited. Her plan is to renovate and sell the Cottage and get back to her "World Travels". Life has a series of Twists and Turns when she arrives back on Nantucket. Her grandmother comes to the Cottage to check on the renovations. Emily also befriends the "boy next door", Hollis,  who had a Career ending injury and can no longer play baseball. She also discovers the secrets behind the tragic way her mom died. Emily is trying to find strength and advice in the letters her mom wrote. Will she come out stronger through all this? Will she and Hollis have more then a friendship? Does she stay on in Nantucket or resume or World Travels??

I really enjoyed this book. I had to keep hushing those around me as I was reading because I was so engrossed in the book and they were breaking my concentration. Grab a copy of this book soon, makes a great read at anytime, would certainly be a book to put on your Spring and Summer reading list.

Courtney Walsh is the author of ten inspirational novels. Her debut, A Sweethaven Summer, was a New York Times and USA Today e-book bestseller. Courtney lives with her husband and three children in Illinois, where she is also an artist, theater director, and playwright.

3 Bits of Wisdom Every Mother Hopes Her Daughter Cherishes
By Courtney Walsh
There are so many types of mother-daughter relationships, and I’ve discovered that in most of my novels, these relationships are explored in one way or another. My most recent book, If For Any Reason, delves a little deeper into this universal relationship, as the main character’s only connection to her late mother is a book of letters she left behind for daughter when she died.
It was interesting to think through the advice and wisdom I would want to be sure to share with my own daughter, if for any reason I wasn’t here to share it in person. There’s so much I would want to say, so many lessons I would want to share, but if I had to boil it down to three bits of wisdom, I think it would be these:
Ask for help when you need it.
I’m not sure why it’s so difficult to admit we need help sometimes, but in the past year and a half, my family has faced some pretty significant medical challenges, and I learned that it’s necessary to let other people help you. One of the quickest ways to burn out and get overwhelmed is to try to do everything on your own. Now, I’m not talking about laziness. I’m not talking about figuring out ways to get other people to do things for you that you don’t want to do, but genuine help in this journey of life—spiritually, mentally, physically—all the ways that you need to be strong and healthy. You were never meant to figure everything out on your own. And it’s less lonely when you let people in.
Mistakes are good . . . as long as you learn from them.
Okay, it’s inevitable. You’re going to mess up. You’re going to make a million mistakes and sometimes you’re going to really, really regret them. It’s okay. It’s okay to make the wrong choice now and then . . . but only if you learn from it. Because even though there’s a lot of grace for your mistakes, there are still consequences, and if you’re not willing to learn what you did wrong, you’re just going to keep making a mess of things. Don’t do that. Don’t be stubborn and unmoving. There are opportunities to learn something new every single day, and there are people all around you who can help teach you—but only if you humble yourself, realize you don’t know everything, and are willing to learn. Remaining teachable is one of the greatest things you can do. Learn this lesson early, and you’ll go far.
Be yourself.
This is one of the most important and most challenging lessons any of us could learn. It’s a platitude, isn’t it? Advice you’d find on the outside of a coffee mug or embroidered on a throw pillow. But it’s more than that, this whole idea of being who you are, who God created you to be. Here’s the tricky part—how do you know who that is? The only way I can tell is to spend time with yourself. And to not be afraid to sit in the quiet with your thoughts. Learn what God says about you so that if those ideas are challenged or someone else tries to put a label on you that you don’t want, you’re armed with the truth. This will serve you well as you work to discover who you are.
The truth is, as a mother, I’m constantly learning. As a person, I’m constantly learning. And while these are just three bits of wisdom I hope my daughter carries with her, there are so many other lessons I hope she learns, lessons I hope I can teach her so she doesn’t need to learn the hard way.
What about you? What’s one bit of wisdom you want to be sure to pass along to the next generation?

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time to change what happened in the past?? This book, Vestige of Legacy by Sara Blackard does just that with the main Character, Samara McKenna.

Samara McKenna is a very independent woman who is living in Modern times, and has finally found her path in life. She suddenly is transported back to 1879 and in the Colorado Rockies. Samara is laying on the ground, injured and Orlando, who is hiking the trail finds her. Orlando brings her back to his Homestead and helps her through her injury. Samara recently lost her faith in God, but Orlando has a strong Faith in God. Samara is struggling with wanting to be alone and independent, but also realizes Orlando is a man of faith and a man that many women would want. Being she is independent, she also finds herself not really wanting to fall for Orlando. She soon realizes she is falling for him and him for her. Samara learns she must let go of the Past to be able to live in the current times. She begins to Trust Orlando, but more importantly begins to trust God's plan for bringing her to the Past.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was easy to follow, although it is part of the Vestige series and book #2. I did not read the first book in the series, but now I want to. GREAT BOOK!

A trip to the Alamo brings introspection and a bit of sweat.
Texas heat could melt a woman…
…I know. I experienced it this last September when I ventured south for the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) conference in San Antonio.
I noticed several t-shirts in the gift shops that said “If you can’t take the heat, leave Texas!” I looked at those shirts and told them, “Not until the conference is over, you bully.” They don’t like it very much when you talk back to them.
I visited the Alamo while I was there. I could glimpse it of out the window of our hotel room (Thank you, Jesus for answered prayers!) Inside the walled grounds was a small museum one of the actors told me to check out. There wasn’t much in the museum. Old rifles. A few uniforms. Some personal items. I found Davie Crockett’s brush, and next to it sat this tin box that Crockett carried with him. It surprised me, because this box isn’t small. Crockett was a man in a foreign land, looking for a better future. What would cause a man to carry such an awkward box by horse across miles on his journey?
That box got me thinking about what things I carry? I had just finished the first draft of Vestige of Legacy. Samara, the heroine, carries her mother’s Appalachian dulcimer with her. She has the memories of her mother in the case, but she’s also packed it full of fears, regrets and lies. Do I have such a thing in the items I’ve lugged around the country as we’ve moved from place to place?
Then I started thinking about what do I want to carry with me? The answer quickly came back as God. In all the things I can take with me as I travel across the miles or down the street, I pray I’m taking God with me, pray He guides my thoughts, actions, and words. And here’s the crazy thing, I know He takes me with Him, carries me through all my troubles and through the joy. He says so in Isaiah 46:4  “And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old. I’ll be there, bearing you when you’re old and gray. I’ve done it and will keep on doing it, carrying you on my back, saving you.”
Wow… aren’t God’s promises amazing? What are you carrying with you? Are you like Crockett, lugging around this awkward box? You can bet, whether you recognize it or not, that God is faithful to carry you.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, as this is the first time I have read a book by Author Heather Greer. I began reading it and the story immediately grasped my attention and I kept reading until I was done, in about 4hrs.

Katie McGowan is the main Character of the book. She is engaged to Austin, but she has trust issues. She wants to trust her current fiance as she knows he is different then her first fiance. She is really struggling with Anxiety and Trust, and really bad nightmares. She is given the gift of Hope and begins healing. She begins to restore her faith in God after talking to her friend Erin. She realizes God has never left her, instead Katie stopped following God due to her trust issues. Will Austin and Katie's relationship survive? Will Katie completely be able to let go of fear and anxiety? I HIGHLY suggest reading this book.

I feel this book has a GREAT message. The message being we have to always be faithful in our faith and God will lift us up. Fear and Anxiety is letting Satan win, we need to have Victory in God. FANTASTIC Book!

Heather Greer is a pastor’s kid and pastor’s wife from southern Illinois. Though her nest is quickly approaching the empty stage, with three of her four children out on their own, she enjoys the times she gets to spend with all her children, husband, and grandson. Equal mix geek and romantic, you could as easily find Heather watching an episode of Doctor Who as the latest Hallmark movie. Of course, you may find her baking, reading, or crafting too!

Heather’s writing and teaching ministries revolve around a passion to see believers grow in their faith. Though God has used her most often with teens and adults, she has worked in ministries reaching all age groups through the years. It is Heather’s prayer for God to use what she writes in her books and on her blog to challenge and encourage readers in their faith walks.

More from Heather

Often, we throw around the word hope as if it’s a fancy replacement for a wish. Nothing could be further from the truth. Godly hope is more than wishing our circumstances were different without any indication that our desire could become reality. When our hope is based on who God is and what He has promised in His word, it becomes something to anchor us in the troubling times we go through. It is what allows us to give the circumstances that weigh us down to God and go on living life even though physically there may be no changes in what’s happening.

Hope isn’t pretending the bad stuff isn’t there. And it isn’t acting as if the hard things don’t hurt. Hope doesn’t erase the hurt or ignore the problems, but it does free us from allowing our emotions and circumstances to control us. Hope lets us have peace that makes no sense to the rest of the world. Hope allows us to rest in the middle of the trial. Hope based on scriptural truths allows us to live with joy even when things aren’t going our way.

As I wrote Grasping Hope, God took me to places that challenged and grew my own understanding of what it means to have hope as an anchor to our souls (Hebrews 6:19). When I started writing, I had no idea the path God would take me down to show me just how little I understood about hope. It’s something I never want to repeat and wouldn’t wish on anyone. But the lessons I learned grew me as a believer, and it is my prayer that what I learned through this difficult time in my life comes through clearly for everyone who reads Grasping Hope.

Click here to get your copy.

The book was a short book, and I finished it in a couple of hours. I had a little bit of trouble understanding the storyline when I began reading it. I realized that this is the 3rd book in this series and I haven't read the first 2 in the series yet. I think it is better to read the first 2 in the series first, but after getting a couple chapters into the book, I was able to understand the storyline with clarity.

Scott and Bailey have been enjoying wedded bliss for a year and are excitedly expecting Twins. In the midst of the excitement, there is also drama and intrigue due to Bailey having some things come to light. Scott and Bailey are getting things ready for the Open House of their Retreat Center for Missionaries. Bailey is kidnapped while awaiting for her to ride to the Retreat Center. The Community rallies together to find Bailey. Scott and the Community find out some shocking things while on the hunt for Bailey. Will they find Bailey safe? Will there be a "Joyful" ending? You will definitely want to read this wonderful book to find out!

Joy Express was my first introduction to author Jody Day. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more books from Jody Day, including the first 2 in this series. FABULOUS BOOK!!

Jody Bailey Day writes inspirational fiction, poetry, Bible studies, and articles from her home in West Texas. She is a member of Faithwriters.com, American Christian Fiction Writers, and is the president of Critique Café, West Texas area writers group. She mentors young writers, and is a musician and music teacher. She and her husband love silent and black and white movies, and the chaos that comes with fifteen grandchildren. She crochets blankets for her ministry called Wrapped in Prayer Blanket ministry. Jody considers herself a professional nerd, and loves every minute of it.

More from Jody

I’m so excited about the release of Joy Express. It’s the culmination of a series that began in my heart on the way home from the first writer’s conference I ever attended. The East Texas Writer’s Conference was held at my alma mater, East Texas Baptist College, which is now University. I was incredibly inspired, and on I20 toward Dallas I saw a sign that said Washout Express, Exit 477. Turns out that was giant truck wash. My thought was, “What would it be like to be totally washed out, washed up, and at the end of your rope?” I’d been there and was on the other side, but I wanted to write a story about the process. Bailey Brown was born. Joy Express is Book 3 in the series and follows Bailey and Scott through a series of tremendous obstacles, and how their faith and family got them to the other side. It’s not tied up with a nice little bow, life is rarely like that, but it does come to a redemptive pause in their story. I hope you’ll pick it up and read the message of faith. You can come back from anything.
