I truly enjoy Christian Romance books, so this one really peaked my interest. I started reading it a couple days after I received it. I soon found out that this was a "Ohh, just one more chapter, can't put it down" type of book!

Maddy is going through some trying times, after just finding out her boyfriend has been cheating on her and lying. She quickly ends that relationship. Soon after she receives a call from her Grandmother's neighbor, Connor, who tells her that her grandmother has gone missing. Maddy heads to North Carolina, where her Grandmother lives, and her 2 estranged sisters are also there to help find their Grandmother. The tension between the 3 sisters is very HIGH, but they try to focus on their Grandmother. Sparks begin to fly between Connor and Maddy. Is Maddy ready for a relationship already? Can the sisters work together and bring peace between them after so many years? I suggest reading the book and finding out. You will NOT be disappointed!

Denise Hunter really is a GREAT author, I have read many of her books. Summer by the Tides is an AWESOME read and storyline! This may sound cliché, but it truly is a GREAT book for days at the Beach or Summer Reading!! I think I will read it again now that Summer is in full swing!

MADDY MONROE WAS COWERING behind a ficus tree near the hostess station when her cell phone rang. Her hands shook as she silenced the phone before it drew the attention of the staff. She jabbed the elevator button for the third time. “Come on, come on.” A star could be born in interstellar space, a polar valley carved by a glacier in the time it took the elevator to reach this floor. Stairs were not an option, as she was on the twentieth floor of the Waterford building and sporting heels. She sniffled. Drat. She seemed to be crying. She swiped a hand under her eyes, heedless of her makeup. She heard voices, Nick’s boisterous laugh. Maddy shrank deeper into the ficus and finally, finally, the elevator dinged its arrival. “Maddy?” Noelle’s concerned voice tunneled down the hall. “Maddy, wait.” “Oh, come on,” she muttered, tapping her fingers against her leg until the gold doors crept open. As soon as she could fit, she squeezed inside and punched the ground-floor button. She didn’t draw a breath until the doors sealed and the elevator began to drop. She placed a palm over a heart that was threatening to beat its way out of her chest. Her white blouse clung to her back, and her skin prickled beneath her arms. She closed her eyes, the scene that had just transpired playing out in fast-forward in her mind. And then, as if that montage weren’t painful enough, the image of Nick’s face appeared. The look on his face just before he’d kissed her good-bye last night. Nick. She clamped her teeth together until her jaw ached. There had been signs. Many of them, really, she was realizing now. They ranged from whisper-subtle to neon-sign obvious. But like so many other walking clichés before her, she was only seeing them in retrospect. Maddy opened her eyes to the buttery sunlight streaming through her blinds. She scrambled for her iPhone to check the time. But as she did so, the events of yesterday washed over her like a tsunami. She didn’t have to get up at all, because she didn’t have a job anymore. Her cell buzzed with an incoming call, and she squinted bleary-eyed at the unfamiliar number on the screen before declining it. She drooped against her pillow, only now aware of how fat and swollen her eyes felt. Of the persistent achy lump pushing at the back of her throat. Her heartbeat made the bed quake. Her eyes burned with tears. Yesterday’s anger had faded, and something worse had filled its spot. Yesterday she’d come home, changed into yoga pants, and worked in her little garden until she was too exhausted to do anything but flop on the sofa. She hadn’t fallen asleep until after three o’clock in the morning. She didn’t want to talk to anyone, didn’t want to see anyone. She didn’t even want to be awake today. Stone Creek, Michigan, April, 1901 — Maggie Galloway and Thomas Harper clash after their sons collide in a fistfight. Both widowed, they’re each doing their best as single-parents. Outgoing Maggie has dreams for a home of her own and a business to provide for her son as she searches for God’s path for her life as a widow. Reserved Thomas struggles to establish his new pharmacy and take care of his four rambunctious children, while wondering how a loving God could take his beloved wife.

When Giles offers Maggie a position at their test kitchen in Chicago, he hints that, along with assuring her a good job, it will allow them to possibly rekindle their relationship. 

 But then a charlatan comes to town, and tragedy soon follows. Maggie and Thomas discover the miracle potions he hawks aren’t so harmless when an epidemic hits Stone Creek. Thomas and Maggie realize they must work together to save lives.

 Maggie finds herself caught up in battles within and without—the battle to help the townsfolk in the midst of illness and chicanery, and the battle to know which man—Thomas or Giles—deserves to win her heart.

Kathleen Rouser is one of my favorite Christian Fiction Authors, so I was excited to be able to read another new book by Kathleen. Secrets and Wishes is the sequel to Rumors and Promises. 

Secrets and Wishes has 3 main characters, Maggie Galloway, Thomas Harper and Giles Prescott. Maggie and Thomas are both widows and singled parents living in Michigan. They begin a friendship when their sons are in a fistfight with each other. The friendship flourishes when Maggie has to take care of Thomas when he becomes deathly ill. Maggie is also trying to support herself with a baking business. Along comes a old boyfriend who wants her to come to Chicago to work in his Test Kitchen. All that sounds good to Maggie, but she feels drawn to stay in Michigan with Thomas. What will she decide? How will the love story end? I cannot spoil the ending, as the book is soo good it is a must read! 

I really like the time period that this love story took place, in the early 1900's! The way health care was in that time is quite interesting. Also, the fact that when Maggie became a widow she had to be creative in how she would support her family due to the fact that women had a difficult time gaining employment during that time. 

Secrets and Wishes is a GREAT stand alone book and I HIGHLY recommend it. Kathleen Rouser is a wonderful author and she proves it once again in this FABULOUS book!

This inspirational romance by E. C. Jackson is book two of the Hope series and is a standalone book.

I began reading this book and almost put it away, as it was slow going in the beginning and my mind kept wandering from the story. The storyline picked up around Chapter 4 for me and then I couldn't stop reading it. 

Sadie and Kyle are the 2 main characters. They had what they both thought was a great relationship, until Lincoln enters the picture. Sadie falls for Lincoln, moves away and Kyle is pushed from her life. 2yrs later she returns to her hometown and wants a relationship with Kyle. Kyle has moved on and is a Pastor at a church. Does Sadie have a chance with him? Sadie tries to rekindle the romance and through struggles and tribulations, the romance does survive. 

The thing that I liked about this book is that Kyle's heart was always ready for Sadie, even after she moved away. He had dreams and a vision and in the end those came true. This book is about forgiveness and second chances! GREAT BOOK!!

Amish Fiction is my favorite genre to read. I have read a couple of Rachel J Good books in the past, but I have not read any from this series until now. 

The Amish Widow's Rescue has 2 main characters, Grace and Elijah. Grace recently lost her husband and is raising 2 kids and pregnant with her 3rd. She is struggling to do all that is necessary to keep her household running including running a Jam Business as a source of income. The neighbor, Elijah, steps in to help Grace with some of the chores and helping with her kids. Elijah wants to be neighborly without any attachments. He suddenly discovers how that is impossible, as the more time he spends with Grace and her kids, the more the 2 form a deeper relationship. Will the 2 get over their past hurts and past relationships to become one? I will let you find that out when you read the book yourself. 

The Amish Widow's Rescue is Book 3 in the Love and Promises Series. I am going to get a hold of the first 2 books in this series and read them also. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading MANY more of Rachel's books!!

The story idea for The Amish Widow’s Secret came to me after I’d just finished reading stories to my Amish friend’s children to give her a little break. She was expecting a new baby, and while we sat in their kitchen enjoying a snack, her husband came in. The tenderness in his eyes as they talked made my eyes well with tears. It was obvious how much they loved each other, and they both supported each other. A perfect companionship. Not everyone gets to experience that bond, that caring. It made me wonder what she’d do without him, and the seeds of a story was born. I decided to explore how a widow would cope with a pregnancy and two children alone. In the Amish community, of course, no one is ever left on their own. Everyone chips in to help. So, what if the handsome and reclusive bachelor next door felt obligated to help, but wanted to avoid getting involved? Would he eventually soften his heart toward children and love? As I wrote, I wondered if Elijah Beiler could get over a previous heartbreak. He needed to face his past before he moved forward, so I gave him that opportunity. A surprise visit and unwelcome news force Elijah to rethink everything he believes about parenting and love. And about the person who destroyed his world. He also needs to face the bitterness he’s been harboring. Sometimes learning more about the circumstances or reasons of the person who has hurt us causes us to see the whole situation in a new light, making it easier to let go of the hurt. That’s what happens to Elijah.
