Christian Young Adult Fiction is an intriguing Genre. This particular book also encompasses other genres including Military Fiction. Grandpa's Comrade by Kelsey Gjesdal is the most recent book that I have read. The synopsis and book cover really peaked my interest in reading this book.
The storyline of this book captured my attention from the very first pages and I could not put it down until I finished within 3 hours. The main characters in this story are teenagers, Will and Jess and their Grandpa. The adventure begins when Will and Jess are bored at their Grandparents house for a week. The teens discover an box that contains some mysterious items and it leads them to want to discover the truths held within this box. Grandpa was a former Navy Seal and Will and Jess are wanting to carry out a mission to find their Grandfather's long lost Comrade. The way the teens were immediately attached to going through the secrets in the box and also within their Grandparent's house, really showed the LOVE they have for their Grandpa. Grandpa has PTSD and other Military related health issues, so the importance of finding his Comrade really stuck with Will and Jess. The book is one of Faith, LOVE for Family and most of all helping our Veterans and Active Military! I really appreciate how the Author really focuses on the troubles that Veterans come home with after their time in the Military! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction and honoring our Military! GREAT BOOK!
