Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Tracy by Jennifer Lynn Cary

Book: Tracy: A Sweet, Quirky, Romantic Masterpiece (Book 6 of the Weather Girls Wedding Shoppe and Venue series. It can be read as a stand-alone.)

Author: Jennifer Lynn Cary

Genre: Sweet, Wholesome Romance (Retro)

Release date: October, 2024

Her heart can’t take more breakage…

…He’s been wounded enough

Yet they’re becoming best friends without ever having met.

Tracy Callahan has learned that relationships aren’t for her. The struggling glass artist puts up barriers to keep romantic entanglements from causing more pain. However, her feelings are growing for her roommate’s brother, despite having never seen him in person.

How can just his voice on the phone hold that much attraction?

Danny Mitchell left a large part of himself in Viet Nam and is learning how to navigate life back here in the states. It’s better to just avoid the public. As long as he doesn’t have to see anyone in person, he can pretend he’s his old self, and the caller on the other end of the phone won’t know the difference.

But Tracy is breaking through, resurrecting feelings he thought were dead and gone.

They might find a way to make a telephone relationship work. Unless meddling loved ones get involved.

When that happens, can Tracy and Danny’s friendship survive meeting face-to-face?

Or could there be something more than friendship in store for them? Maybe a God-designed masterpiece built from their broken parts?

Return to 1973 Kokomo, Indiana where the legend of the cardinal in the sycamore can still prove true love.

You will enjoy this sweet, quirky tale of hidden worth, because sometimes what we need is right in front of us.

I enjoy Christian Historical Romance. Tracy by Jennifer Lynn Cary is Book 6 in the series, The Weather Girls Wedding Shoppe and Venue. I have been enjoying this series since Book 1 and I am always excited when a new book in the series is released.

WOW, another amazing book in this series. We are back in Kokomo, Indiana in 1973. The main characters in this book are Tracy Callahan and Danny Mitchell. Tracy has gone through many relationship heartbreaks and doesn't really want anymore. Danny is the roommate of Tracy's brother. The friendship that is formed through many phone calls is amazingly wonderful, even though they have never met in person. Danny is also a person who likes to keep to himself, after serving in the Vietnam War. They both are similar in that they are trying to avoid others and don't really want a Romantic relationship and are very comfortable with a long distance phone relationship. I really LOVE that the author really brings to light the affects that the Vietnam War had on those who served in the War. Danny had many struggles, including PTSD, that he had to work through. Danny and Tracy were able to move into a Romance through God's healing and LOVE and being able to be open to each other of life struggles and their "baggage" they carry. The story is one of overcoming challenges of life, breaking down walls that hold us down from moving forward, God's work in our lives.  The book is filled with Humor, Romance, and Faith. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who likes good Clean Christian Romance and a step back in history! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Historical Christian Romance author, Jennifer Lynn Cary, likes to say you can take the girl out of Indiana, but you can’t take the Hoosier out of the girl. Now transplanted to the Arizona desert, this direct descendant of Davy Crockett and her husband of forty plus years enjoy time with family where she shares tales of her small-town heritage and family legacies with their grandchildren. She is the author of The Crockett Chronicles series, The Relentless series, and The Weather Girls trilogy as well as the stand-alone novel, Cheryl’s Going Home, her novella Tales of the Hob Nob Annex CafĂ©, and her split-time novels The Traveling Prayer Shawl and The Forgotten Gratitude Journal. Her current spin-off series, The Weather Girls Wedding Shoppe and Venue, contains standalones with a common thread.

More from Jennifer

Have you ever met characters in a story that stayed with you, even when they weren’t the main characters? That’s what happened to me after I wrote Runaround Sue. Sue’s brother and her roommate seemed to hit it off so well, and I loved those characters.

It only made sense to give Tracy and Danny their own story.

However, I will confess that I had planned to make a character named Tracy because of the song, “Tracy” by the Cufflinks. It’s such a happy, bouncy tune and I thought that fit Sue’s roommate.

I do need to add that I relied on a childhood friend for some Danny’s antics. At one point I was told that something he did wasn’t possible. The problem was, I knew it was because my friend, Maureen McKay did that very thing. Maureen had a personality like Tracy’s and determination like Danny’s.

A few years ago I was back in Kokomo for a special wedding anniversary party. I noticed a guy sitting at a table and went to talk with him. At that time, I was combing faces for someone I’d known back when I went to school there. He had that look, but as we talked, it was obvious we didn’t know each other.

A little later I told my cousin about that, and she said that he was ahead of us in school, but he had a younger sister who would’ve been about my age. I knew immediately why he’d looked familiar. He was Maureen’s big brother.

I searched him and his mother out quickly and let them know I remembered Maureen. I mentioned a few of our escapades. Then I told them that my husband and I had lost a son, and that the kindest thing anyone could say was that they remembered our Ian. So, for that reason, I wanted them to know I remember Maureen.

And that’s why Tracy is dedicated to the memory of my friend Maureen McKay.

Christian Historical Romance is one of my favorite genres to read. Maggie's Journey by Lena Nelson Dooley is Book 1 in McKenna's Daughter series.  I am excited about this new series!

WOW, I can honestly say this book was a "read until finished" book. I started it and got so intrigued with the storyline that I did not put it down for 4hrs, when it came to the END. The 2 main characters in this story are Margaret(Maggie) Lenora Caine and Charles Stanton. Maggie never really got along with her mom Florence, always feeling not a strong bond. Maggie turns 18 and discovers information in the attic of their home that shows that Maggie was adopted by the Caine family. Maggie is now determined to find out her true identity, something she has been yearning to do for a time. A decision is made for Maggie to travel to Little Rock, Arkansas to visit her grandmother. Charles Stanton was chosen to escort her to her destination, as he is a young business associate of Maggie's father. The 2 set out for their destination. I really enjoyed seeing Charles first stick to "business" and not try to allow his feelings for Maggie to show. I also LOVE how Maggie and Charles help one another throughout this journey along the Oregon Trail. I really enjoyed the fact that Charles and Maggie finally realize they are bonding very strongly and move forward with a Romance. The Faith of the Characters in this book was amazing. I really LOVE how Charles reminds Maggie that everything is possible with God. The bok is one of Family, Faith and romance.  I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. GREAT BOOK!

Book Excerpt

“Mrs. Caine.” Angus McKenna came to an abrupt stop and cleared his throat before starting again. “I’ve come to ask you something that . . . I never dreamed I’d . . . ever ask anyone.” His voice rasped, and he stopped to take a gulp of air, staring off into the distance.

She couldn’t take her eyes from him, even when the baby in her arms squirmed. “How can we help you?”

New tears followed the trails down his cheeks and disappeared into his beard. He grabbed a bandanna from his back pocket and blew his nose with one hand. “I’ve just lost the most important thing in my life.” He paused and stared at the ground. “I don’t know how I can go on without her.” His voice cracked on the last word. Once again he paused, but much longer this time. His prominent Adam’s apple bobbed several times. “I’ve been crying out to God, but I don’t think He’s listening to me right now. If He were . . . ”

What a thing for a man to admit to them. Florence knew he must be near a breakdown. He did need help, but what could they do?

“I’ve decided . . . it would be best to find another family to raise one of my girls.” He stood straighter. “I’ve watched you with Margaret Lenora . . . ”

“Is that what you’ve named her?” Florence gazed at the sleeping baby, and her heart ached for the child. To grow up without a mother.

“Yes.” Angus looked straight at Joshua, and her husband gave a slow nod.

“Your husband has told me . . . how much you’ve wanted a child.”

For a moment, anger flared in her chest. Joshua shouldn’t share her secret with anyone. She took a deep breath to keep from saying something she’d regret. Even though she didn’t even look at her husband, she could feel his gaze deep inside. She was grateful he couldn’t see the ugly jealousy and covetousness that resided there.

JustRead Tours Blog Tour: Finding Juniper by Cindy Thomson

Finding Juniper JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Finding Juniper by Cindy Thomson, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Finding Juniper

Title: Finding Juniper
Author:
Cindy Thomson
Publisher:
Emerald Path Press
Release Date: January 2, 2025
Genre: Christian Fiction, Historical Fiction

For Patrick Doyle, the claim that time heals all wounds is a cruel lie.

In 1920, returning from WWI, Paddy finds Ireland creeping toward civil war. Invisible borders separate people, including Paddy and his pregnant girlfriend. With few prospects, Paddy sails to America. However, America is far from the land of opportunity he’d hoped for. And worse, his girl refuses to follow him because of her political involvement.

Thirty years later, Patrick has moved on with his life, building a new family. A letter arrives, suggesting the child he’d assumed died may be alive. Patrick’s American daughter Mardell pushes him to find out what happened to her sister, named Juniper. Patrick anxiously sails to Ireland.

Juniper endured a childhood in institutions, and when she’s released, she moves on without the parents who left her. Operating an apothecary out of an inherited cottage where villagers are slow to trust outsiders, Juniper finally finds a home when her grandmother arrives. Just as she feels comfortable and content, her father shows up at her door, bringing shocking news about her mother.

Finding Juniper invites readers on a journey of confronting the past, healing from old traumas, and redefining what family truly means.

Christian Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres. Finding Juniper by Cindy Thomson is the latest book in this genre that I have read.

WOW, I was captivated by the storyline from the very beginning. The main characters in this book are Patrick "Paddy" Doyle and Juniper. Patrick returns to Ireland after WWII and had hoped to settle back into Life in Ireland. He is disappointed when he is separated from his Pregnant girlfriend due to the ongoing war. Patrick heads to America and makes a life for himself with a Family and Wife. The story picks up 30 years later when Patrick discovers the daughter in Ireland might be alive. He flies to Ireland at the urging of his Daughter. Juniper, his daughter in Ireland, has had a rough life and now has settled into running her own business. She was surprised when her Dad shows up at her Door. Patrick and Juniper share many things about their lives and what has happened since he was last in Ireland. The storyline really gets real here and the fact that they are able to start a relationship after many decades apart was so heartwarming. The bond that happened between Patrick and Juniper was all about forgiveness and being able to look toward the future. The story is about Wartimes, Forgiveness, Family and Faith. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction. WONDERFUL BOOK!

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Trekking Toward Tenacity: Your Family’s Roadmap to Stronger Mental Health by Chris Morris

Book: Trekking Toward Tenacity: Your Family’s Roadmap to Stronger Mental Health

Author: Chris Morris

Genre: Parenting / Christian Living / Mental Health

Release date: September 24, 2024

Empower your children with the gift of tenacity through these practical, meaningful tools for their mental and spiritual health.

Trekking toward Tenacity walks through Psalm 139 verse by verse, discovering how we can help our children develop mentally healthy habits. The goal is to coach our kids to be more tenacious because we live in a tumultuous world. It can be hard to stay focused on God and on mentally healthy habits in that tumult, but this book gives concrete ways to help kids to do just that.

By teaching parents practical application steps to implement with kids of all ages, ranging from preschool to adolescent, this book will give them new tools to support their families in the quest for better mental health. It will provide rock-solid encouragement for parents who are stressed out and wondering if they’re making the right choices for their families. It provides counterintelligence against the onslaught of increased risks of mental health challenges for children and young adults today.

Christian Non-Fiction Self Help books are a genre that I read often. Trekking Toward Tenacity: Your Family’s Roadmap to Stronger Mental Health by Chris Morris is the latest in this genre that I have read.

I have to say that I was really intrigued to read this book. Mental Health in Children, Teens, and Young Adults is unfortunately widespread. Our Household has one son who suffers severely from Anxiety and Depression. The book focuses on Psalm 139, a verse by verse explanation and how seeking God's word can help tame the Anxiety and Depression. Each chapter encourages the reader to ponder over the Scripture verses for that chapter. They also include Age Approiate activities and questions for different ages and stages in life. The author gives parents practical advice to help their children overcome Anxiety and Depression. I do feel that the book didn't have a STRONG biblical leaning, even with the Scripture references. I do believe this book would be a helpful resource for Parents and those helping children and teens through Anxiety and Depression issues. I do recommend this book for anyone who feels they need encouragement through the stages of Anxiety and Depression. GOOD BOOK!

As a writer and speaker, Chris has shared his personal story and insights with audiences across the country, inspiring many individuals to take control of their own health, break free from poor theological teaching placed upon them, and seek the support they need. He has published several books on mental health, the most recent being Resilient and Redeemed. His work has been featured in a number of media outlets, including CrossWalk, The Mighty, and Fathom Magazine.

More from Chris

I literally wrote the book that I wish I had 20 years ago when I was raising my kids. Being a parent today is tumultuous. Especially in a post-COVID world, mental health is a strong contender for the biggest challenges facing our kids. There are plenty of books out there that give us theories on how to raise our kids, and plenty of books that are full of devotionals to walk through with our kids, but shockingly few books dedicated to coaching our kids to have tenacity.

In my experience, tenacity might be the biggest difference maker between seeing our kids move successfully through life and floundering. It’s a given that challenges will come, whether those struggles look like not making the varsity basketball team or something more serious. We simply have to help our kids know how to walk through the missed opportunities and hard times that will inevitably come into their lives.

Trekking Toward Tenacity does just that. We walk through Psalm 139 verse by verse and pull out practical, meaningful tips, tricks, and conversations to have with our kids to help them develop resilience. News flash: there’s no magic potion we can give our kids that gives them bounce-backability. Instead, this is found through conversation about life and God.

My favorite part of this book was writing the age-appropriate activities in the center of each chapter. Instead of only giving you theology or child psychology data without any practical application, Trekking Toward Tenacity includes specific activities you can try out with your kids. There’s obviously no guarantee that these ideas will work, but I can tell you that they worked for other kids. These are pie-in-the-sky concepts, but activities that have been tried in the real world.

If you’re looking for a book that will arm you with skills to coach your kids on how to develop tenacity in their lives, this is the book for you!

JustRead Tours Blog Tour: The Hunted Heir by Jayna Breigh

The Hunted Heir JustRead Takeover + Review Blitz

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for The Hunted Heir by Jayna Breigh hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

The Hunted Heir
  Title: The Hunted Heir
Author: Jayna Breigh
Publisher: Kregel Publications
Release Date: January 28, 2025
Genre: Romantic Legal Drama

After a tragic loss, private investigator Nona Taylor swore off romantic entanglements and distanced herself from the world. Once a year, on New Year's Eve, she attends church to beg God for forgiveness, haunted by the guilt of driving her twin sister to her death.

Attorney DeMarcus Johnson is determined to climb the ladder to partnership by winning high-profile cases at his Los Angeles law firm, harnessing his ADHD hyperfocus to excel. He's everything Nona knows to steer clear of--an overconfident ex-jock willing to do anything for success.

Their worlds collide when Nona's pastor receives a mysterious letter claiming he's the sole heir to a substantial estate. Desperate for answers, Nona infiltrates a lavish charity ball, only to be found out by a suspicious stranger--so she latches onto DeMarcus and concocts a fib about being his fiancĂ©e.

Now bound by a false engagement, the pair reluctantly join forces to discover the truth about the inheritance. But when an unseen enemy strikes, they realize the stakes are higher than they thought. Can Nona and DeMarcus overcome their differences to keep the pastor safe, secure DeMarcus's partnership, and preserve a future for themselves?

I really enjoy Christian Fiction. The Hunted Heir by Jayna Breigh is the latest book in this genre that I have read. The book is the debut novel for Jayna Breigh.

I will honestly say that I truly didn't think I would be captivated by the storyline so soon. The synopsis of the book was intriguing, although I felt a bit too much of legal words. I began reading this book and was immediately knew I wasn't putting it down anytime soon. The main characters in this book are Nona Taylor(a private investigator) and DeMarcus Johnson(an Attorney). Nona still has guilt in regards to her Twin Sister's death and tries to keep to herself. DeMarcus is doing everything he can to become a Successful Attorney in Los Angeles. The 2 meet at a Charity Ball and when she needs to hide her identity, she grabs DeMarcus and announces that he is her fiancé. The pair then decide to work together to solve the mysterious inheritance that DeMarcus recently found out that he is a beneficiary to. I really LOVE the "Fake Engagement" storyline. Nona initially wanted NOTHING to do with DeMarcus, but I really enjoyed how their relationship grew from FAKE to Real. The happenings that come about through their research to discover the Mystery person who gave DeMarcus an Inheritance was amazing! I really wasn't anticipating the Faith to be so prominent in the storyline. The book is one of Mystery, Faith, Romance and Family! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Faith Based Romance books! FANTASTIC BOOK!
