Title: An Ode to Poison
Series:
Livia Aemilia Mysteries #3
Author:
Lisa E. Betz
Publisher: Breakthrough Christian Publishing
Release Date:
October 21, 2024
Genre: Historical Mystery

What do death by poison, a ruthless senator, and a poetry party have in common?

They combine to draw Livia Aemilia into her most dangerous investigation yet. She must risk setting foot in the house of her worst enemy, Senator Tiberius Gracchus, to investigate the death of his wife. (Don’t worry, she has a plan.)

The victim’s sister is convinced Gracchus is the killer. If so, proving his guilt in Rome’s law courts could put a stop to his nefarious threats forever.

Livia is sure this investigation is God’s plan to protect her family from their malicious enemy. And maybe it will finally convince her husband Avitus that God is real.

The more Livia and Avitus dig, the more it looks like they will finally bring Gracchus to justice. Until another victim is poisoned, and everything they think they know is turned upside down.

I really enjoy Chrsitian Mystery and Christian Historical books. An Ode to Poison by Lisa E. Betz is Book 3 in the Livia Aemilia Mysteries. I have not read the first 2 books in this series as this is the first book by Lisa E. Betz that I have had read.

I will say this book took me a couple chapters to really get into the storyline. Once I got into the book, I really enjoyed it. The book is set in the Roman times. Livia Aemilia is the main character of the story and she is given the task to solve the mystery in the death of the wife of Senator Tiberius Gracchus. Livia isn't too fond of the Senator but she sets out to solve the mystery. Livia is on track to solve the mystery when someone else is poisoned and that changes things. Livia is determind to get justice for the family of the Senator's wife and relies on her faith in God to help her solve this mystery. She truly believes that God is also working on her husband, Avitus, heart to see that God is real. I was pleasantly surprised in the ending of this book and I look forward to reading more books from Lisa E. Betz. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Chrsitian Historical with Mystery. GOOD BOOK!
