FlyBy Book Review: None Like Him by Jen Wilkin

About the Book:

God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible.

We're not.

And that's a good thing.

Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone.

Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God's limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.

About the Author:

Jen Wilkin is a speaker, writer, and teacher of women’s Bible studies. During her fifteen years of teaching, she has organized and led studies for women in home, church, and parachurch contexts. Jen and her family are members of the Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas. She is the author of Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds.

My Thoughts and Review:

I am in AWE of None Like Him by Jen Wilkin. I am not one who usually understands "deep topics" such as this, but Jen Wilkin wrote the book in a manner that is understandable to the casual reader.

Christians are always striving to be "Christlike" in everything they do. The truth is, No one is Like Christ.

None Like Him is broken down into 10 Chapters and the chapters cover:

God is

Infinite  -  He is immeasurable

Incomprehensible  -  He is beyond human reckoning
Self-Existent  -  He creates life
Self-Sufficient  -  His right hand sustains
Eternal  -  He is behind and before
Immutable  -  He endures
Omnipresent  -  He is near and far, high and low
Omniscient  -  He searches, knows, discerns
Omnipotent  -  He does wondrous works
Sovereign  -  He ordains each day

I was challenged, I was encouraged, I highlighted the book(something I rarely do), the book really spoke to me. God is God and we cannot achieve the attributes that he has, but we can reflect God in our life. I really loved that each chapter includes Verses for Mediation, Study Questions and a Pray Prompt. I read this book alone, but it would make a GREAT Bible Study Book to be done with others! GREAT book!
