The Rustler Hunter JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for The Rustler Hunter by R.J. Sloane, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

The Rustler Hunter

Title: The Rustler Hunter
Series: Harper's Justice #1
Author: R.J. Sloane
Publisher: Desert Life Media
Release Date: September 23, 2025
Genre:
Western Action & Adventure, Christian Western, Western Romance

When forty-one successful manhunts make you a legend, there’s only one way left to go—down.

J.J. Westin, the infamous Rustler Hunter, goes undercover at Arizona Territory's largest cattle ranch to expose the rustlers bleeding it dry. The thieves aren't just stealing cattle. They're trusted cowboys operating from inside the bunkhouse.

What he doesn't expect is Hayley Harper, the tough-as-nails cook with secrets of her own. She's a Pinkerton agent working the same case and the daughter of notorious outlaw Galen Harper.

When their covers are blown, they uncover something far deadlier than rustling. A corruption network spanning three territories. With enemies closing in and bullets flying, the legendary manhunter and the outlaw's daughter must survive the badlands of 1898 Arizona, where trust is deadly and justice comes at gunpoint.

In the shadow of Canyon Diablo, where the historic Aztec Land & Cattle Company's Hashknife outfit controlled over a million acres of the Arizona Territory's most lawless land.

Christian Western Romance is an awesome genre and one that I appreciate. The Rustler Hunter by R.J. Sloane is the most recent book in this genre that I have read. It is Book 1 in the Harper's Justice series.

The storyline reeled me in from the first few pages. The setting is 1898 in Arizona. The main Characters are J.J. Westin and Hayley Harper. J.J. is a cattle Rustler Hunter. Rustlers steal cattle from Ranches and J.J. hunts them down to stop them and save the cattle. His most recent case is at the largest cattle Ranch in Arizona. Hayley Harper is a Pinkerton Agent and J.J. is surprised when she comes on the case also. J.J. is familiar with her Dad, Galen Harper, as he is an outlaw. They are both working undercover, that is until their cover is blown. I LOVE how they continue to work together on the case, even though they know further danger might be on the horizon. I also love how they help each other realize things about their individual personal life struggles. J.J. is a man of faith and it is shown throughout the book. The book is one of Trust, Romance, Faith and more. I am excited for more books in this series. GREAT BOOK!

Audrey had returned home to Texas for the Holidays. She is happy to be on the Family Ranch, and sees a lot of work needs to be done to bring it up to date. She is surprised when Tyler arrives at the Ranch with his orphaned baby niece, Willow, He thought it would be a quick visti and then things change. I LOVE how Audrey offers to take care of Willow when she becomes sick. Tyler is asked if would help with the Work around the Ranch. It was heartwarming seeing the pair work together for family situations. The longer the pair is together, they begin to realize that though divorced, they still have a love for another. The story is one of Second Chance Romance, Healing from the Past, putting family first. I HIGHLY recommend reading this book, and also recommend the first book in this series. Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: The Bible Companion Book 5 Job by Karen Westbrook Moderow

Book: The Bible Companion Book 5 Job

Author: Karen Westbrook Moderow

Genre: Bible Study/ Devotional

Release Date: August 26, 2024

Does God care when you suffer?

The Bible Companion Book 5 helps you face hard questions about pain and evil from a perspective of hope. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible Study.

In the Books of Wisdom (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs), God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. These books reveal a God who is concerned not only about our minds and bodies, but also our emotions. Our journey begins with Job, a man who loses everything. Like us, he fears for himself and his family. What he discovers through his pain surprises him and challenges many of our assumptions about God.

I really enjoy doing Bible Studies. I have recently been getting into Individual Bible Studies at Home. The Bible Companion Book 5 Job by Karen Westbrook Moderow is the latest Bible Study I have enjoyed.

I recently discovered this series by Karen Westbrook Moderow and have been enjoying the Bible Studies in this series. The Book of Job is one of my favorites in the Bible. It is known for being a part of God's Poetry. Job is a strong Bible Character, even after losing everything. The author really researched for the writing of this Bible Study and I became engrossed in the daily readings with lots of emotions. Each chapter has questions to help the reader apply the scriptures to daily life. I would HIGHLY recommend this for Individuals or Group Discussions. The author even has a Group discussion plan included in this study. I truly am looking forward to going through more Books in this series! GREAT Series!

More from Karen

Most of us have had a Job-like season in our lives. Mine came in 1996 when my eighteen-year-old son was in a terrible car accident that left him with a permanent traumatic brain injury. Mike was in a coma for four months. His prognosis was grim. We were told he would never walk, talk, or live independently.

Come Christmas, he was still in the hospital. I had no heart for celebration, but I wanted to buy a gift for my husband. He loves art so I stopped by a local gallery. Inside, I saw a bust of a man that I immediately recognized as Job. His face was twisted in pain. Behind the hand clutched to his chest, I saw a hole. Inside was a bleeding heart. I stepped back. Job looked just like I felt. Raw. Exposed. Bleeding. I stared at the sculpture a long time. I wanted to buy it, but couldn’t. I just couldn’t.

I walked out of the shop in tears wondering if I would ever smile again. The next months were spent in rehab with Mike. We renovated our house, brought him home, hired caregivers, and prayed that somehow God would heal Mike’s body and our broken hearts. The Lord comforted us during this time, assuring us He had a plan. He would take care of us and there would be an end to our suffering. Every day brought new challenges, but Mike began to improve. More importantly, our faith took root. The Lord brought people, resources, and hope. Against all odds, Mike learned to walk, talk, feed and dress himself. And against all odds, we found ourselves joyful as we journeyed with our son through each milestone. The story is long and complicated. One I’ve journaled in my book, Back Roads Home, but the point is, God was right. There can be joy, even in sorrow. There is hope, even in the dark. There are things in Mike’s life and ours that remain broken, but God’s presence during that difficult time saw us through. Pain was not the end of our story.

Time passed in roller-coaster fashion. As I rode the highs and lows, I often thought about the Job I saw in the art gallery and wondered how he was faring. Then one year, while looking for an anniversary gift to celebrate our anniversary, Job came to mind. Enough time had gone by that I could now embrace him as a fellow-sufferer and be glad our paths crossed. I called the artist and learned she still had the piece. (Either there isn’t much of a market for art depicting tortured souls or else he was waiting for me.) My husband smiled when I unveiled him. He hugged me and said, “We’ve been through it, haven’t we?” Yes, we have. And we had to wait until we were on the other side to appreciate him. Now when I look at him, I don’t just remember the pain; I remember the gifts of suffering—patience, perseverance, trust, love, hope, and so much more.

As I was going through the book of Job chapter by chapter for The Bible Companion, Job’s sculpture sat not five feet from me. His tortured face and silent tears reminded me that this world is full of sorrow. But the Bible—the book I ran to while in such pain—compels me to carry his story forward. Job-in-clay may be frozen in agony, but Job, the man-who-contended-with-God is not. He comes to trust his all-wise Creator and finds peace. So can we.  At its core, Job is a story of hope. Hope is woven throughout the book that bears his name. As a writer, my desire is to make that thread visible, especially to those who suffer in the dark.

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Right Before Their Eyes by Carrie Walker

Book: Right Before Their Eyes

Author: Carrie Walker

Genre: Romantic Women’s Fiction

Release Date: February 5, 2025

Sometimes the love you need most looks different than you imagined.

Clare Martin thought nothing of agreeing to live with her dementia-ridden grandmother when her parents left on mission. Balancing that with her job as a social worker and the expectations of her career-driven boyfriend proved doable—until Grandma started a house fire.

Mason Hughes has loved Clare for years, but the time was never right to tell her and now she’s dating someone else, fixing Mason firmly in the friend zone. He’s working to be a pediatric neurologist, a dream inspired by a special boy with a terminal brain condition, and must choose a medical school. Finances are so tight he’s forced to consider a program across the country, a troubling fact he’s kept secret.

Lucia Roberts, a seventeen-year-old on Clare’s caseload, loses her foster home and is placed in an unwelcoming group home. At every turn she’s met with rejection and becomes desperate for any proof she has value—enough to make choices that could affect the rest of her life.

When Grandma Dottie and Lucia’s paths take a dangerous turn, Clare frantically tries to save them. As their lives knit together, will they find the love that’s right before their eyes?

Contempory Christian Romance novels are a favorite genre of mine. Right Before Their Eyes by Carrie Walker is the latest in this genre that I have read. It is Book 2 in the Faith Endures series.

I started reading this book and just could not stop reading. The story is just amazing. The 2 main characters in the book are Clare Martin and Mason Hughes. Clare is a Social Worker and also a caregiver to her Grandmother. Clare and Mason have known each other for YEARS and Mason has had a crush on Clare for quite a long time. He has never been able to express his feelings for her, and now she is in a relationship. Clare is really struggling to care for her grandmother and do her work as a Social Worker. Her current client, Lucia, is 17 years old and has been shifted around from Foster Home to Foster Home. Her relationship is starting to fall apart with her boyfriend. Mason is also in the middle of making some major life changing decisions. I really LOVED seeing Clare stepping up to help others, especially her Grandmother and Lucia. Mason has a strong faith and truly a heart for helping others. The author really does a great job at clearly taking so many happenings in one book woven together through many twists and turns. The storyline is one of Faith, LOVE and Friendships. I am really enjoying this series and I am already looking forward to another book in this series. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Contempory Christian Romance. FANTASTIC BOOK!

Carrie Walker lives in Michigan with her husband and seven children. From her ten years serving as a high school youth minister, adventures around the globe, and raising a family, many stories have been knit within her heart.

As an avid reader she pens what she loves to read, contemporary stories that bring hope to a hurting world. Weaving romance among story lines of characters in struggle, she aims to show God working in all situations. When she’s not playing board games with her husband, shuttling kids in the Walker bus or wishing for snow, Carrie can be found at the keyboard bringing those stories to life.

Carrie’s writing has been recognized in many contests. Her debut novel, Emma’s Hero, won the IAN Book of the Year for Christian Fiction, was a double finalist in the International Book Awards, placed in the ACFW Crown Award, Monroe Walton Center for the Arts Award, and won the 2020 ACFW First Impressions Contest.

More from Carrie

When I was writing “Emma’s Hero” I had a few readers that took an early peek at it, before it was completed. More than once, I was informed “This is not the only book, right?” And so, this story was a reality in my mind, before it was even thought of. This book just was. And the characters helped tell the story. Mason grew a lot in Emma’s Hero, but he has a lot more growing to do, especially in the realm of relationships, communication and figuring out how to live this newfound faith. Grandma Dottie is a character inspired by a combination of both my grandmothers, and there is a story she tells to Mason almost halfway through the story that is a true story borrowed from my own grandparents 🙂 That’s all I’m telling you, you’ll have to find it. But I just love that a part of their love story made it into mine.
