Picture Imperfect JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Picture Imperfect by Alyssa Roat & Hope Bolinger, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Picture Imperfect
Title: Picture Imperfect
Series: Roseville Romances #1
Author: Alyssa Roat & Hope Bolinger
Publisher: Mountain Brook Ink
Release Date: November 5, 2021
Genre: Christian, Contemporary Romance

Can a struggling career woman and a procrastinating artist save a beloved nonprofit?

Aspiring novelist Caroline Penn expected a promotion, not a picture book assignment. But when her employer, the non-profit Helping Hope, runs into financial trouble, this book might be the solution. With the company struggling to stay afloat, she and the illustrator will need to collaborate on a strict deadline—no problem for a workaholic like Caroline, right?

Andy Jackson, a “starving” artist, pays the bills by taking on graphic design gigs, but his perfectionism gets in the way. If only he could focus on a project for once, perhaps he could achieve his dream to make art for children for a living.

When the two are thrust together to create a book, Caroline can’t seem to write for children, and Andy can’t meet a deadline to save his life. As time ticks down to release day, the two must face their pasts and insecurities. If they can avoid strangling one another for long enough, they may just bring to the table what the other is missing.

If not, the fate of their careers—and a beloved nonprofit—hangs in the balance.

I really enjoy a good Christian Romance book. Picture Imperfect by Alyssa Roat & Hope Bolinger is Book 1 in the Roseville Romances series. Both of the Authors are new to me authors and that is another reason I was intrigued to read this book.

Caroline Penn is an up and coming novelist. She has a "workaholic" flair about her and is looking to be successful in life. She receives an assignment that she wasn't exactly looking for, but she realizes the importance of this job. Her Employer, Helping Hope, is a Non-Profit and in financial trouble. They have asked her to work along side Andy Jackson, who is a up and coming Graphic Designer, to write a Children's' book. The pair begin working together and Caroline wants to go full speed ahead, but realizes rather quickly that Andy tends to get off focus on projects quite often. Caroline is struggling because she is finding that writing a Children's book is just not her style/genre. Andy is a perfectionist and it is making him slow down and not accomplish tasks in a timely manner. Can the pair complete the book by the deadline? Will they be able to save the Non-Profit from their Financial Troubles?

I must say I had a bit of trouble getting into the storyline, but once I did there was no way I was putting the book down before I finished. Caroline has been so focused on "making it" she was wearing herself thin. Andy was a struggling artist and this was his opportunity to bring himself out of the rut and achieve some dreams.  I really like the how the "unlikely" pair used their strengths and weaknesses to help one another. Andy forced Caroline to slow down in life and Caroline helped Andy by showing him how to focus in life. I really LOVE how the Author bought out the best in both characters and made them very enjoyable to read. The Christian theme I am seeing throughout the book is that God doesn't expect "PERFECT" and both characters learn how to let go of Perfectionism. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a clean Christian Romance book. GREAT BOOK!
