I really enjoy Christian Non-Fiction books. The Way of The Shepherd. From Anxiety to Assurance: Embracing the Timeless Wisdom of Psalm 23 by Danny Davis is the latest in this genre that I have read.

I can honestly say this book was a book that I truly needed to read. Anxiety is something that 3 of the 5 in our household suffer from, including myself. I do use Scripture to get me through the anxious times, but this book really has given me insight and encouragement on how to really allow God to help through anxious moments. The book is divided into 4 parts and it really breaks down Psalm 23 in an encouraging way. I really like that each chapter is an in-depth look at verse by verse of Psalm 23 and each chapter has a time of reflection included. The real life situations throughout the book are really inspiring and touching. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who needs some Biblical Encouragement in dealing with Anxiety and other life happenings. GREAT BOOK!

From Chaos to Calm: A Shepherd’s Journey Through Modern Storms

It was a Tuesday morning when my world seemed to collapse. The incessant buzz of notifications, the weight of impending deadlines, and the echoes of global crises all merged into a deafening symphony of anxiety. As a pastor and global missionary, I was expected to be a pillar of peace for others. Yet, I found myself engulfed in a sea of overwhelm, struggling to breathe.

Sound familiar?

This scene plays out in countless lives daily in our hyper-connected, always-on world. We’re all searching for an anchor in the storm, a moment of respite from the relentless pace of modern life. It was in my moment of desperation that I rediscovered an ancient wellspring of peace: Psalm 23.

”The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures…”

These words, penned by David, shepherd-turned-king, thousands of years ago began to work their way into the cracks of my fractured spirit. As I meditated on this psalm day after day, I realized it wasn’t just a poetic artifact—it was a roadmap for navigating the complexities of our 21st-century existence.

This personal transformation became the seed for ”The Way of The Shepherd.” In writing this book, I set out on a quest to unpack how this timeless wisdom speaks directly to our most pressing contemporary challenges:

  1. Finding Peace in a World of Conflict:

Conflict seems unavoidable, from my experience of stress anxiety to the global tensions that flood our newsfeeds. But through the lens of the Good Shepherd, I discovered a peace that transcends circumstances—a calm place in the eye of the storm.

  1. Discovering Purpose in an Age of Distraction:

How do we discern our true calling with a thousand voices vying for our attention? The shepherd’s guidance offers a clarity I never thought possible, helping me navigate the noise and stay true to my life’s purpose.

  1. Achieving Wholeness in a Culture of Fragmentation:

Juggling roles as a pastor, writer, global missionary, and family member often left me feeling scattered. The shepherd’s path led me to a deep sense of wholeness, where every aspect of life finds its proper place.

  1. Embracing Rest in a 24/7 World:

Proper rest can seem like an unattainable luxury in a society that never sleeps. Yet, as I learned to “lie down in green pastures,” I found a rejuvenation beyond mere physical relaxation.

  1. Seeking Guidance in Uncertain Times:

When the future seems more unpredictable than ever, where do we turn? The shepherd’s staff became my compass, offering direction when the path ahead was unclear.

The Way of The Shepherd offers practical solutions to finding peace through personal stories, actionable advice, and deep scriptural contemplation.

As we journey through The Way of The Shepherd together, you’ll discover:

  • How to cultivate a strong inner peace, regardless of external chaos
  • Practical steps to align your life with God’s purpose, even when the world pulls you in a thousand directions
  • Ways to foster genuine reconciliation in your relationships, healing the divisions that plague our society
  • Techniques to find proper rest and recharge, even in your busiest seasons

Whether you’re feeling lost in life’s shadows or simply seeking richer pastures, this journey offers more than temporary relief—it provides a proven path to lasting peace and purpose.

Are you ready to exchange anxiety for assurance, chaos for calm, and confusion for clarity?

Let’s rediscover The Shepherd’s path to peace together. After all, who wouldn’t benefit from some peace in a world that often feels like a raging storm?

Welcome to the journey. The still waters await.

I really enjoy reading Cozy Mystery books.  Mabel and the Unholy Night by Susan Kimmel Wright is book 4 of the Mysteries of Medicine Spring cozy mystery series. I have read a couple books in this series and have come to enjoy it!

I was so excited to see that the series now has a Christmas themed book.  Mabel and John, her FBI investigator Boyfriend, her dog Barnacle are the main characters in this story. The storyline starts strong and is very intriguing throughout the book. Barnacle heads into the woods and comes back with a Human Skull. Mabel and John think there might be connection to the unsolved death of her friend Nita's great uncle. The mystery thickens when Mabel receives a Christmas Card addressed to her at her Grandma's house where she now lives, that is over 60 yrs old The storyline gets even more interesting when a second death happens that might be connected to her friend Nita. I really LOVE the Small Town community and how everyone wants to figure out if these incidents are connected. I also LOVE that Mabel and John are determined to solve the mystery incidents. The book is a definite page Turner and a fast read because I did not want to put it down. So much intrigue but in a Cozy manner. I was truly surprised at the conclusion of the Mysteries and for that I am grateful. I enjoy a book that isn't predictable! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a Good Cozy Mystery book! More from Susan

Does Christmas make you nostalgic? In Mabel & the Unholy Night, fifty-year-old Mabel is observing her first Christmas in her late grandma’s house. As she sets out each fragile, vintage ornament, she feels that same familiar lump in her throat.

What we treasure may have to do with when we grew up. I love mid-century glass tree ornaments from Woolworth’s, ceramic elves stamped “Made in Japan,” and Gurley candles shaped like carolers, some still bearing 29¢ stickers on the base.

Ever since childhood, I’ve loved the tiny cardboard village under our tree. Houses and churches sparkled with glitter in their landscape of cotton-batting snow and bushes of dried moss. A sheet of glass atop light-blue construction paper made a perfect pond for tiny skaters. As someone once pointed out, accuracy of scale is of no concern in the cardboard village. Reindeer may loom over the houses like the mutant product of scientific experimentation gone wrong in a “B” horror movie.

Cardboard villages, properly called “putz houses,” originated with Moravian immigrants. Once handmade, houses were later imported from Germany and Japan. While nowadays we’re more likely to buy a ceramic village we can light up, I’ll take the primitive charm of a putz village any day.

Maybe best of all, we can build our own putz villages to suit ourselves. A new tradition for child and parent or grandparent might be building a new house each year, to add to the tiny community. While kits are available, you can also find plans online, such as this free resource: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/make-traditional-glitter-houses-2365171

Perhaps our yearning for the things of the past is rooted in a longing for a more carefree time, when beloved faces, now gone, were still around us as we enjoyed the season together. When our slower-paced celebration centered on Christ’s birth, and family closeness. Building a putz house or church with loved ones might let us recapture just a bit of that old-fashioned Christmas spirit.

FrontGate Media Blog Tour: His Final Answer by Christopher D. White and Jennifer Curran

This story is about the wrath of tragic grief and how self renewal is the key for any future possibilities or reconciliation of the past.

Daniel Pallson is considered by most to have everything one could ask for as one of the wealthiest self made people in the world, however in reality since he tragically lost his son twenty years ago he has been one of the emptiest. Since then he has shut most everything out of his life including his wife, extended family, faith in himself, spirituality and all except his successful business.

A long time American citizen and resident Daniel returns to his native Iceland for a very important business project. While on this trip he suffers a life threatening event that does not allow him to leave the country any time soon. Daniels only option where to convalesce is at his estranged brothers ranch where they both grew up. Daniels wife Doris with whom he separated from years ago also comes from her home in Boston knowing this is a life or death situation. To his complete dismay Daniel must now face not only his own mortality but all he shunned all these years. What is his final answer?

Christian Fiction books are a favorite genre of mine. His Final Answer by Christopher D. White and Jennifer Curran is the latest book in this genre that I have read.

WOW, this book had me captivated from the very beginning. The main character in the book is Daniel Pallson. Daniel was "living the life" and making a name for himself. He had achieved many accomplishments in life and has wealth. He really felt empty inside, as he had lost his son 20yrs ago. He   took a trip to his native country, Iceland, for business. A life threatening medical emergency really made him look back at the past and make some decisions about moving forward. I really think the message of this book is very strong, that loss and grief can really leave us empty, even if we think we are holding it all together. We can isolate ourselves from family, friends, our faith and so much more. Faith and Spirituality can really bring us to a point of really LIVING and being in a peaceful place with God, ourself, and others. I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction with a touch of real life. GREAT BOOK!

Christopher D. White is a storyteller from the Midwest, raised in the Chicagoland area of northwest Indiana. Known for his original narrative films and documentaries, Christopher has a deep love for sports and all Chicago teams. He even received a genuine Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series ring as a part owner of the team.

Christopher graduated from Indiana University in 1981 with a business degree and worked as a stockbroker in Los Angeles. At night, he performed comedy in local clubs. His passion for storytelling led him to take a film writing class at UCLA, which changed his career path. He was accepted into the prestigious American Film Institute as a producing fellow.

Over the years, Christopher has written and produced films like "Missing Brendan" and the Netflix series "Valhalla Murders." His first book was a tribute to the WWII generation. His first novel, "His Final Answer," marks his debut in fiction writing. He plans to adapt his novel, "His Final Answer," into a film, to be shot in Iceland and Boston.

Jennifer Curran grew up in Stamford, Vermont, a small town with just 800 people. She is the eighth of nine siblings and was raised by a wonderful mother and a father who was a World War II veteran. Jennifer excelled in sports like basketball, softball, and skiing during high school, where she also won the school patriot award.

Jennifer attended Boston University on an English scholarship. At nineteen, she was discovered by Elite Modeling Agency while walking in New York. This led to a successful international modeling career, taking her to places like Australia and Paris.

After modeling, Jennifer returned to the U.S. and joined an off-Broadway theater group in New York City. She later moved to California to follow her passion for acting and writing. Jennifer is an avid poet and short story writer and a certified member of the renowned Amherst Writers & Artists. "His Final Answer" is her first novel.

FrontGate Media Blog Tour: The Ghost of Darwin Stewart by L.G. Nixon

Summer vacation may never be the same.

It’s all fun and games until a smelly ghost, and a terrifying shape shifting entity follow Lucy home from the flea market. When a malevolent spirit learns Lucy is the keeper of an artifact he has been searching for millennia to find, everyone she loves is placed in danger. With several other magical artifacts which were in the trunk she purchased from the vendor at the flea market, Lucy finds she has access to powers she never knew existed.

The Spectrescope has shown her a beguiling other world reality filled with magic, spirits, wizards, and daemons. The artifact is the key to unlocking many secrets. Secrets, that if not kept, would mean destruction for the world beyond the portal, and possibly her own. Whether she likes it or not, she must decide. Will she protect the artifact? Or will she give it up to protect herself?

Lucy has been chosen, but evil is strong.

And the night has secrets of its own.

Christian Mystery Fiction is a favorite genre of mine. Young Adult is not normally a genre I read, but I was intrigued by the Synopsis of this book. The Ghost of Darwin Stewart by L.G. Nixon is Book 1 in The Issachar Gatekeeper Series.

I will admit it took me a bit to get into the Storyline, but by Chapter 2 I was really getting into the story. The 2 main characters of the book are Lucy and her friend Schuyler. Lucy is only 13 and found an interesting artifact at a Flea Market and buy it. The rest of the story is how Lucy is followed by a Ghost who wants the artifacts that Lucy purchased. I really LOVE how strong Lucy and Schuyler are throughout the book as the ward off the Ghost that is following them. The author does a great job at keeping a faith message in this book. The book is really showing how as Christians we are going to have to battle demons and have good things come to us. Good vs. Evil comes to mind throughout this book. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for the age group of 12 and up. GREAT BOOK!

LG Nixon fuses a page-turning fantasy with a haunting theme and turns it into a spirit filled adventure with quirky and likeable characters the whole family can enjoy. Her stories are lighthearted but carry an underlying message of the importance of a Biblical worldview.

As a child and young teen, LG continuously wrote stories in her spare time, but during the college classes she took in journalism and writing, LG soon discovered a latent talent for writing. After a long career in office management, she left the workplace behind, and turned to writing.

After growing up in a creaky old house with a grandmother who told stories of ghostly visitors, LG naturally gravitated toward the mysterious. Today, she enjoys writing stories filled with mystery, suspense, and other worldly wisdom. She researches and writes full-time from her home in Michigan where she prowls the night looking for ghosts and spirits, and has a haunting good time doing it.

She is always in search of the perfect cup of coffee, the softest afghan, a good book and a quiet corner. She also loves to ski, ride motorcycles, travel, and fly small planes.
