About the Book:
The Letters:
Book one in Suzanne's brand new series; The Inn at Eagle Hill.
Rose Schrock is a plain woman with a simple plan. Determined to find a way to support her family and pay off her late husband's debts, she sets to work to convert the basement of her Amish farmhouse into an inn. While her family, especially her cranky mother-in-law, is unhappy with Rose's big idea, her friend and neighbor, Galen King, supports the decision and he helps with the conversion. As Rose finalizes preparations for visitors, she prays. She asks God to bless each guest who stays at the Inn at Eagle Hill. As the first guest arrives and settles in, Rose is surprised to discover that her entire family is the one who receives the blessings, in the most unexpected ways. And she's even more surprised when that guest decides to play matchmaker for Galen King.
With her signature plot twists combined with gentle Amish romance, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites readers back to Stoney Ridge for fresh stories of simple pleasures despite the complexity of life. My Thoughts and Review:
I have been a fan of Suzanne Woods Fisher books for a while and therefore excited for this new series. The series is based on a True Story, and I LOVE True story based fiction.(kind of an oxymoron but that is OK)
The main character, Rose Schrock, takes an unfortunate situation(death of her husband) and forges ahead to make a life for herself and 5 children. Rose receives disapproval from her Mother In-Law and her church, as she begins the Inn at Eagle Hill. The Inn is a B&B she started in her basement as a means of income for her family. The one thing that surprises Rose is the friendship and love that is found from her neighbor, Galen King.
I really enjoyed this book with its many twists and turns. I really love how even though Rose opened the Inn as a means of income, she is GREATLY blessed by those that stay at the Inn. The guests open their hearts and minds to Rose and she is able to minister to them. The book is about moving forward, new friendships, new love, faith in yourself and faith in God. I felt connected to Rose and her endeavors, feeling like I was a guest at the Inn. The Letters is a "cuddle up with a favorite drink and dive in" type of book. I am looking forward to the next books in the series!
I give The Letters 5 out of 5 stars. An EXCELLENT Read!
