Momentum Influencers Blog Tour: The Chosen Season 4 Episodes 7 & 8

The Chosen is a groundbreaking historical drama based on the life of Jesus (Jonathan Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the seven-season show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings. Season four premieres in theaters February 1, 2024.  With over 200 million viewers, The Chosen is one of the most-watched shows in the world. The series is consistently a top performer across streaming platforms Amazon Prime, Peacock, and Netflix plus a top-rated broadcast weekly on The CW. What started as a crowd-funded project has now garnered over 770 million episode views and more than 12 million social media followers. The Chosen is an independent production written, directed, and produced by Dallas Jenkins and distributed globally by Lionsgate.

Synopsis: Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, He’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP.

• The first three seasons of The Chosen will soon be dubbed in 50 languages with plans to subtitle in more than 600.
• The Chosen is the first multi-season series of its kind: a ground-breaking historical drama about the life of Jesus.
• Jonathan Roumie was invited to the Vatican on two different occasions to speak to the Pope about his role as Jesus.

I will say that The Chosen is a series that I loosely follow. I have seen a few episodes from each of the 3 Seasons, but have not seen them all.

I was given the opportunity to watch Season 4 Episodes 7 & 8. I have to say this show could become a new favorite. The Script was very spot on with the Bible.  These episodes focus on Jesus preaching to the Crowd of 5,000 and Jesus Walking on Water. The Acting and Drama was very captivating. I am one who usually doesn't comprehend Biblical Drama, but this series was very easy to understand and comprehend. I HIGHLY recommend going to the Theatre to see Season 4 of The Chosen! GREAT SERIES!

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Secrets and Wishes by Kathleen Rouser

Book: Secrets and Wishes

Author: Kathleen Rouser

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: January 30, 2024

She only wants a fresh start, but her past might be the only hope to save his life—and the lives of countless innocents.

Determined widow Maggie Galloway dreams of a peaceful life and a successful business. And winning the Silver Leaf Flour Company baking contest could be the key to that success. She even has a chance at a prestigious position through a dashing former beau. But when her son gets into a fight with the local pharmacist’s son, Maggie’s peaceful life is derailed.

Reserved pharmacist and recent widower Thomas Harper is also looking for a fresh start for himself and his four children. But when Thomas falls gravely ill, his only choice is to enlist the help of the local baker with a knowledge of concocting remedies. He’s even more reluctant to admit that Maggie may also be the remedy for his grieving heart. And when a traveling medicine man’s medicines beget tragedy, Thomas and Maggie must overcome their differences to save the children of Stone Creek—and face the growing attraction between them—before it’s too late.

Kathleen Rouser is one of my favorite Christian Fiction Authors, so I was excited to be able to read another new book by Kathleen. Secrets and Wishes is Book 2 in the Stone Creek Brides series.

Secrets and Wishes has 3 main characters, Maggie Galloway, Thomas Harper and Giles Prescott. Maggie and Thomas are both widows and singled parents living in Michigan. They begin a friendship when their sons are in a fistfight with each other. The friendship flourishes when Maggie has to take care of Thomas when he becomes deathly ill. Maggie is also trying to support herself with a baking business. Along comes a old boyfriend who wants her to come to Chicago to work in his Test Kitchen. All that sounds good to Maggie, but she feels drawn to stay in Michigan with Thomas. What will she decide? How will the love story end? I cannot spoil the ending, as the book is soo good it is a must read!

I really like the time period that this love story took place, in the early 1900's! The way health care was in that time is quite interesting. Also, the fact that when Maggie became a widow she had to be creative in how she would support her family due to the fact that women had a difficult time gaining employment during that time. Her baking skills and her knack for concocting things could just be the remedy for her peaceful life. Secrets and Wishes is a GREAT stand alone book and I HIGHLY recommend it. Kathleen Rouser is a wonderful author and she proves it once again in this FABULOUS book!

Maggie Galloway’s Prizewinning Recipe

Maggie Galloway was a secondary character in my first Stone Creek Brides novel, Rumors and Promises. As the older sister and housekeeper of hero, Ian McCormick, she liked to have her say. I enjoyed getting to know Maggie as I created her character. She was so much fun to write I knew she needed her own story.

She has a knowledge of remedies from working with her pharmacist husband in the past, but Maggie is also a prizewinning baker because of her creative and cherished recipe for pecan snickerdoodles. I hope you’ll enjoy her recipe.

Increasing the vanilla in her favorite snickerdoodle recipe while adding toasted chopped pecans to the dough and the cinnamon sugar made for the delightful crunch and a nutty taste, which had won her second place in the recipe contest. (From Maggie’s musings in Secrets and Wishes.)

Maggie Galloway’s Pecan Snickerdoodles

½ cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

¼ teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 ¼ cup flour

½ cup chopped toasted pecans

Cinnamon sugar mixture:

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon finely chopped toasted pecans

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and lightly grease cookie sheet.

Beat butter until creamy. Add 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar, mixing well.

Beat egg and vanilla into the mixture. Slowly add flour and chopped pecans to the mixture.

Set dough in the refrigerator (or the icebox in Maggie’s day) for at least a half an hour to make it easier to handle.

While you’re waiting, mix the cinnamon sugar ingredients together with the 1 tablespoon finely chopped pecans.

When the dough is ready, roll into small balls and roll in cinnamon sugar/nut mixture.

Place a couple of inches apart on the cookie sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes, only until slightly golden brown along the edges. Yield is approximately two dozen cookies.

Momentum Influencers Blog Tour: CABRINI Movie Review and Giveaway

From Alejandro Monteverde, award-winning director of 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮,
comes the powerful epic of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children. Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing and healthcare for society's most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything
the world had ever seen.

Based on the true story of one woman’s fight for the equality, health, and
happiness of immigrant orphans.

  • From the director, producers and writers of Sound of Freedom, the 16th highest grossing independent film of all time. Sound of Freedom came in #10 in the US box office and made over $240 million worldwide
  • Starring Academy Award nominated and Tony award winning John Lithgow. Lithgow is best known for "The World According to Garp" (1982), "Terms of Endearment" (1983), "3rd Rock from the Sun" (NBC, 1996-2001), and "Dexter" (Showtime, 2006-2013).
  • Cabrini also stars Academy Emmy nominated actor David Morse
  • Cabrini is the first biopic about the Patron Saint of Immigrants
  • Francesca Cabrini was born in northern Italy in 1850. She and six of her Missionary Sisters set off for New York City in 1889.
  • Cabrini had aquaphobia. Cabrini nearly drowned as a child, which spurred her fear of water. However, she overcame it as an adult when she made 23 transatlantic trips to do missionary work around the world
  • Mother Cabrini became a naturalized citizen in Seattle Washington on October 9, 1909
  • She was canonized in 1946 by Pope Pius XII and became the first American citizen to be named a saint.
  • Four years later Cabrini was given the title of Patroness of Immigrants.
  • She died in Chicago on December 22, 1917 at the age of 67 of chronic endocarditis.
  • Over the course of 34 years she established an astonishing 67 hospitals, orphanages, and schools. Her energy was fueled by an intense focus on serving Jesus in whatever he asked of her and her legacy still stands today.

I recently had the opportunity to see this movie before it is released to the Public. I truly enjoyed the movie and the message it gives. Cabrini was a very giving and determined woman who wanted to make sure the impoverished were fed, housed and clothed. She was met with opposition from the Mayor of NYC but she never took NO for an answer. Cabrini's knowledge of Business and Entrepreneurial Spirit really helped her in this feat. Cabrini was able to make changes in Society that many didn't think were possible. I really think everyone should see this movie, especially during this season of Lent. FANTASTIC MOVIE!

FrontGate Media Blog Tour: Timeless Truth Bible

Be anchored in the faith “once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude v. 3) with timeless wisdom shared from church history.

The Christian faith is founded upon unchanging, timeless truth. From the days of the early church until the day of Christ’s return, all of Christianity proclaims that “Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:11). This is our unchanging and unceasing confession upon which all our hope and all our joy rests.

The Timeless Truths Bible will encourage you through the always timely wisdom of those who came before us. Devotional notes and commentary from trusted theologians and pastors from the second century up to the twentieth will stir your affections. The ancient creeds and confessions of the faith will grow your understanding of what we believe—and have always believed. And artwork created throughout the history of Christianity will deepen your worship of the one we call Lord.

Features include:

  • The complete text of Scripture in the New English Translation
  • Margin notes featuring devotional and theological commentary from notable figures throughout church history including
    • Irenaeus,
    • Justin Martyr,

    • Martin Luther,
    • Ulrich Zwingli,

    • Charles Spurgeon,
    •  John Bunyan, and
    • John Calvin.

    • The Augsburg Confession
    • The Belgic Confession
    • The Westminster Catechism
    • The Lausanne Covenant

  • Full-color tip-in pages of artwork from the history of Christianity
  • Line-matched, single-column typesetting
  • Clear and readable 9-point NET Comfort Print

The Timeless Truths Bible features the New English Translation (NET) which is faithful to the original text, clear for everyday reading and presented with unparalleled accountability. Enrich your reading experience of Scripture with the NET: Faithful. Clear. Accountable.

I was  not familiar with the NET(New English Translation) of the Bible until recently. I personally prefer the ESV Bible, but I did find the NET very interesting.

The Timeless Truths Bible is a very unique Bible and one that caught my attention. I really love the inclusion of the Creeds and Confessions. I grew up learning and knowing many of the Creeds. The commentaries from well known Theologians throughout the Bible are a wonderful asset and encouraging. The Illustrations are very colorful and vivid. I am very impressed by the layout and truths throughout this Bible. I will probably use it every now and then as I have my Everyday bible already.

I would HIGHLY recommend this bible to those who enjoy Study Bibles and the Theologians that are in this Bible. WONDERFUL RESOURCE!

When the Flames Ravaged by Rhonda Dragomir is a Chrsitian Historical Romance book. It is Book 2 in a new 6 part series of historic American disasters that transformed landscapes and multiple lives. Whether by nature or by man, these disasters changed history and were a day to be remembered. The Series is written by Various Authors.

The Setting is 1944  in Hartford, Connecticut. Evelyn Benson is a World War II widow who lost her husband in the Bataan Death March. She has stayed strong in her faith and has moved in with her Brother, his wife and children. Being with family uplifts her and gives her courage to move forward in life. Hank Webb is a clown, affectionately named Fraidy Freddie,  with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Hank Webb has a past that he would rather not remember so he lives his life behind the clown gear. Hank has a little faith in God and he feels God wants him to trust his plans. July 6, 1944 would be a life changing day for Hank and Evelyn, as the Circus Tent goes up in flames. Will Hank be able to trust God and learn to leave the past in the past? Will there be a relationship between Evelyn and Hank?

I dove right into the storyline and it grabbed my attention right away. Evelyn is an amazingly strong woman and I really LOVE that her faith was strong also. She could have felt so lost, but her brother and family really helped with that also. Hank Webb seemed a little down and out, but he had a bit of faith. The Circus Tent Fire was a part of History that I was unaware of and it is a very intriguing part of the History. I really LOVE the History in this book and the author did a GREAT job at making it real. I I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance Fiction. AMAZING BOOK!
