Reckless. Extravagant. Wasteful. These were all words that could describe Esther. Thirteen years of careless living had left Esther and her young son destitute. When her husband disappears at night, leaving Esther with the full burden of their debt, Esther has no choice but to claim her husband is dead and enslave herself and her child to stay alive. So severely had she broken the relationships in her life, she never expected a man from her childhood to speak on her behalf and carry the weight of her debt. Yet Esther soon realizes that escaping the demons of her past would not be so easy.
Levi had little interest in seeing Esther again. When a promise to her father leaves him honor-bound to take her as his wife, he struggles with the bitterness he holds toward her for allowing her addictions and selfishness to derail her life. Yet, he could not hide the deep desire within him to be a husband and a father, even to a woman he did not love and a child that was not his by blood.
Discover the story of a reckless woman in A Path to Forgiveness.
Christian Fantasy is not a genre I normally read, but I have been trying to expand my reading genres. A Path to Forgiveness by Lisa M. James is a Christian Fantasy book and I was intrigued by the "Prodigal Woman" theme of the book.
Esther has spent the last 13 years living a "careless lifestyle". She was extravagant, wasteful and reckless. Her husband disappears in the middle of the night, Esther and her son are left with a pile of debt. She decides she has to claim him as dead for her and son to be able to survive. Esther knows that she has damaged so many relationships from her past due to her reckless behavior and other life situations. Esther is amazed when Levi, a childhood friend, steps up to help her and her son and pay off her debt. Levi was hurt by Esther in the past, but due to a promise made to her Father, Levi is "Honor Bound" to take Esther as his wife and to treat her son as his own. Levi Struggles with the bitterness toward Esther for her lack of caring for herself and her son and the path of destruction she was on for over 13yrs. Levi is excited about the fact of becoming a Husband and a Father to a child who is not biologically his. Will Esther be able to change her life around? Will there be a "Happily Ever After" for Levi and Esther and her son?
I will start off saying that it took me a couple of chapters to really understand the storyline. As I began to understand the storyline, I was able to enjoy the book a little more. The 2 main characters, Esther and Levi, are a good pair. I really like Levi, he is a very commendable man and a man who Honors his word to people. He is caring and loving to all around him. Esther, she seemed like a Diva, who wanted things that were out of her reach. I like the writing style of the Author, I am just still not a fan of Christian Fantasy. A Path to Forgivness is a good story for those who enjoy Christian Fantasy and for them, I do recommend it. For me, I did enjoy it even though the genre was a bit difficult for me to follow. Good Book!
