JustRead Tours Blog Tour: Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills

Canyon of Deceit JustRead Takeover + Review Blitz

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Canyon of Deceit
Title: Canyon of Deceit
Author: DiAnn Mills
Publisher: Tyndale Fiction
Release Date: September 9, 2025
Genre: Romantic Mystery & Suspense

A rescue team searches for a missing young girl and suspects all is not as it seems in this high-stakes romantic suspense novel from the author of Lethal Standoff and Facing the Enemy.

When wilderness survival expert Therese Palmer receives a frantic phone call from former colleague Professor Rurik Ivanov, she is shocked by the news that his young daughter, Alina, is missing—and that Rurik wants Therese’s help finding her. She’s sure Rurik hasn’t given her the whole story . . . especially since he refuses to report the kidnapping to the police. Yet with a child’s life hanging in the balance, Therese can’t turn down this mission. She knows the clock is ticking and she can’t do this alone.

Therese reaches out to Texas Ranger Blane Gardner, whom she met seven months ago during one of her training courses in wilderness survival skills. Blane’s specialized training and background with the Crisis Negotiation Unit make him uniquely prepared for this search-and-rescue mission. He agrees to help Therese and to accept Rurik’s terms to keep Alina’s disappearance quiet, and as the two begin working together, Therese is determined the spark growing between them won’t distract from their mission to save Alina.

Traversing deep into the desert of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Alina’s last known location, Therese and Blane struggle to separate truth from lies within the mix of intel they’re receiving. As they close in on answers that suggest the involvement of Russian organized crime and a high-profile international assassination attempt, they must fight to rescue Alina before she becomes an innocent casualty of a much bigger plot—no matter the risk to their own lives.

Christian Suspense with Romance books are a favorite genre of mine. Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills is the latest in this genre that I have read.

WOW, the intrigue and mystery in this storyline starts immediately. The main characters in this book are Therese Palmer, a Wilderness Survivial Expert and Texas Ranger Blane Gardner. Professor Rurik Ivanov daughter is missing and he calls Therese frantically for her assistance in the case. Some Red Flags about this case are noticed right away by Therese, but a child is missing and possibly in danger, so she knows she has to act fast. She calls her friend, Blaine Gardner for his assistance and expertise. Therese and Blaine take the case on, and agree to not contact the police as the Professor has requested. They focus the search within Guadalupe Mountains National Park, where Alina is last know to be. The uneasy feeling about the facts that the Professor might be hiding come to light the more they search. I really admire their determination to find the missing girl, even as they realize they she might be in extreme danger, which puts them in danger. I also LOVE how they are noticing that even though they have only known each other for 7 months or so, they are attracted to one another. The story has so many twists and turns, mainly due to the fact that they have to unravel the mystery of the Missing Girl. The book is Action Packed Suspense and Romance. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Suspense and Romance. AMAZING BOOK!

Celebrate Lit Blog Tour: Mutiny of the Heart by Vickie McDonough

Book: Mutiny of the Heart

Author: Vickie McDonough

Genre: Christian Historical Romance

Release Date: August 19, 2025

A proud Loyalist and a jaded patriot are bound by a child and a shared loss—but as sparks fly, they must decide if love is worth trusting the enemy.

Heather has no reason to like Lucas Reed. He is an American, who’s fight for liberty from England led to Heather’s family’s financial ruin and the death of her father. But her cousin’s dying wish was that Heather take little Jamie to his father in Charleston, and she’s determined to honor that wish, even if it breaks her heart to do so.

Lucas Reed knows the boy at his door cannot possibly be his, but there’s no denying that Jamie has the trademark Reed blue eyes, black hair, and dimples. Still, Lucas is ready to close the door to the boy and his escort until Miss Hawthorne presents him with a letter. He instantly recognizes the writing he thought he’d never see again. The contents of the letter shatter his resolve, forcing him to open his door—and his carefully guarded heart—to the boy and his steadfast guardian.

As Heather and Lucas work together to create a new life for Jamie, can they resist their growing attraction? Or will mutinous hearts finally admit their love when an enemy’s desperate plot threatens their lives?

Christian Historical Romance is a favorite genre of mine.  Mutiny of the Heart by Vickie McDonough is Book 1 in the Windswept Wedding Series and I recently had the opportunity to read it.

I will say that this storyline took me a couple of chapters to really get into. The setting is 1788 in Charleston, South Carolina. The main characters are Heather Hawthorne and Lucas Reed. Heather made a promise to her cousin, before she died, that she would take care of her son Jamie by reuniting the young lad with his father. Lucas Reed lives in South Carolina and Heather makes the trip from Canada to reunite Jamie with Lucas. Lucas is not so happy to see Heather and he tries to shut the door when they arrive. Lucas is shocked when he reads the letter from Jamie's mom, and there is no denying that Jamie is blood family. The storyline really becomes interesting at this point with Lucas taking Jamie and Heather into his home and overtime really getting to know them. I really LOVE that Heather and Lucas really want the best for Jamie. Through their working together for Jamie, they realize they are falling for one another. Lucas is a man of Faith and it truly shows in his LOVE for Heather and Jamie. The book has some unexpected twists and turns and made it exciting to read. The storyline made sense after Chapter 2 for me and  I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoy Christian Contempory Romance GREAT BOOK!

More from Vickie

Most of my writing career I’ve been an author of western historical fiction set in the late 1800’s, but a visit to Charleston and Savannah while on vacation, stirred up a desire to write in a different time period. I was born and raised in Oklahoma, a state that is only 117 years old. I was quickly enchanted by Charleston’s rich history and fell in love with the centuries-old homes and cobblestone streets.

I had also recently read a friend’s book series that featured pirates and felt challenged to create a pirate story of my own. After a lot of research and brainstorming with my critique group, Mutiny of the Heart was birthed.

1788, the time period of my story, was a time of turmoil for Charleston. The city was still recovering from the American Revolution. It had been captured by the British in 1780 and held for two and a half years. Finally, the British hevacuated Charleston in December 1782. The decade after the war saw industries beginning to bring the city and its inhabitants back to renewed vitality and population growth. It’s during this busy time that my English-born heroine comes to Charleson.

Heather Hawthorne is tasked with a near impossible job—deliver Jamie, the young boy she has come to love as her own, to the boy’s wealthy father in Charleston. Heather despises America as her English father lost his wealth and life in his fight against the American war for independence. But Deborah, Heather’s ailing cousin, pleaded with her to take Jamie to his wealthy father, Lucas Reed, owner of Reed Shipping. Though her heart is breaking, Heather honors Deborah’s death wish.

Lucas Reed knows the boy at his door cannot possibly be his, but there’s no denying that Jamie has the trademark Reed blue eyes, black hair and dimples. Still, Lucas is ready to close the door to the boy and his escort until Miss Hawthorne presents him with a letter. He instantly recognizes the writing he thought he’d never see again. The contents of said letter will change his life, bring both joy and heartache.

Enjoy the first episode in the Reed family saga, Mutiny of the Heart.

Desperate to save her bookstore, Lisa cooks up an ambitious grand re-opening event to raise the funds she needs. Little does she know, the key to her success is hiding in plain sight—her best friend Jayden, who moonlights as the elusive bestselling author, Justin Love.

Jayden Reynolds is on the brink of a major career milestone, becoming a partner at his accounting firm. Exciting news, right? Except, he’s grappling with uncertainty about his future as he secretly basks in the success of his romantic debut novel that has readers swooning. As he navigates the wild world of love and ambition, he’s also realizing that he wants more than just friendship with Lisa—the woman who has held his heart far longer than he can remember.

Will they navigate their way through the chaos and finally embrace the sparks flying between them? It’s a delightful journey from best friends to lovers, filled with humor, heart, and a dash of shenanigans!

Christian Contempory Romance is a favorite genre of mine.  Love Between the Pages by Natasha D. Frazier is Book 2 in the At Last series. I read Book 1 of this series and was interested in continuing the series.

WOW, this storyline really peaked my interest from the very first chapter. The book really grabbed my attention faster then Book 1 did. The 2 main characters in the book are Lisa Atkinson and Jayden Reynolds. They have been Best Friends for decades and  are career focused. Lisa takes over the Bookstore Business that her mom has owned for many years. She wasn't expecting to also take over a Tax Debt for the Bookstore also. Determined not to let her Dream go under, she begins a Fundraiser to save the Bookstore. Jayden has been finally offered to be a partner in the Accounting Firm that he has made a career with. He has worked for this goal for almost 2 decades, but now he is unsure if he really wants this. He has been writing Romance books and the readers are LOVING his books. I really LOVE how Lisa and Jayden come together in these hurdles of life to support one another. They begin to realize that their Friendship has always been strong and they are now realizing they have been hiding their true romantic feelings from one another. Lisa and Jayden are allowing God's will to direct their next path in their careers and their relationship. The book is about Dream Careers, Support from Best Friends, discovering the LOVE that was there for many years, with a Faith aspect also. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoy Christian Contempory Romance GREAT BOOK!

Click here to get your copy!

Romantic Suspense with Faith is a genre that I enjoy.  Shaded Goodness by Kathleen J Robison is Book 5 in the Bay Town series. I have been anxiously awaiting this book, as I have read this series from the beginning.

WOW, this book had me captivated from the first few pages. The main characters in this book are Jacquie Dupree, her teenage daughter and her Ex-Husband Mickey. Jacquie has been focused on taking care of herself and her teenage daughter after her going through some difficult life happenings. She has overcome a lot and then her Ex-Husband shows up in Bay Town after being released from Prison. Mickey admits that he made many mistakes, one being Drug Addiction, that led the Family to break apart and he went to Prison. Mickey is back to try to prove that he is a changed Man and has a Strong Faith in God. Jacquie is quite content with the Life she has built for her Daughter and herself and therefore isn't sure she should trust Mickey. I really LOVE how the author weaves the storyline and helps both Jacquie and Mickey come together and talk through some things Jacquie is finally at a point where she realizes her heart was once broken but God can heal relationships and broken hearts. The author does touch on Drug Addiction and how God can even break the chains that bind addicts to Drugs. The book is one about Forgiveness, Overcoming the past and looking to the Future, Trust and LOVE!  I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance with Suspense! WONDERFUL BOOK!

Kathleen J. Robison weaves tales that inspire a walk of faith and a reliance on God’s guidance through life’s trials. With endearing characters, her stories are a testament to the resilience of broken lives, revived through hope and renewed through God’s grace. Kathleen and her husband call Southern California home residing near the beach and find their most joy in the company of their nineteen and counting grandchildren.

More from Kathleen

Have you ever heard of a Shoofly? The word conjures up an annoying, buzzing insect, but a Shoofly is a magnificent white, wooden, raised gazebo-like structure built around giant oaks and sycamore trees. Back in the 1800s, in the south, they elegantly dotted the coastline of Mississippi. Almost every vacation boarding house boasted one. A relaxing venue for people to gather while avoiding the large horse flies that tended to hover closer to the ground, pestering guests and residents. The raised platform also allowed guests to enjoy the ocean breezes on sweltering hot summer days. Sounds romantic, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, due to storms, hurricanes, and erosion, Shooflys all but disappeared in the 1900s. Yet in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, the setting of my Bay Town Books, you can visit a Shoofly today in the local park downtown. In 1989, a group of town women decided to resurrect the nostalgic structure and had one built. It was completed nearly one hundred years after the near extinction of most of the iconic Shooflys along the Gulf Coast. It’s a key setting in my book, Shaded Goodness.

Recently, my childhood friend returned to visit Bay St. Louis. I asked him to take a picture of the Shoofly, and his wife took the shot above of him waving from the deck. He remembers visiting my family in Bay St. Louis sixty years ago, and he said it still has the charm and hasn’t changed or grown much. Except that it’s now an artisan’s dream! Can you imagine? I can. It’s why I set my romantic suspense series in the fictional setting of Bay Town, inspired by Bay St. Louis. Shaded Goodness is the last in the book series.

“You got to forgive him, Jacquie. And no, I haven’t seen him. But I have been talking to Pastor Roland, and it’s a dark spot, one of many in my soul.”

“Dark spots? Is that what you call ’em?” Jacquie threw up her hands. “I can’t even go there. That man killed –”

Themes of forgiveness, second chances, and redemption are woven throughout Shaded Goodness. It was a joy to write because the male protagonist in this book was inspired by the character of my deceased ex-brother-in-law. Shaded Goodness is entirely fictional, but I loved using Mickey’s good traits to craft his character. He was a truly good soul who sadly made poor choices throughout his life. I like to think that if he had lived long enough, his life might have turned out like Mickey’s in this book, happily ever after. That’s why I enjoyed writing this story, as it allowed me to give Mickey a life of redemption here on earth, and I’m grateful that he’s living it in eternity. His love for the Lord in his last years proved contagious, just like his Christ-indwelling goodness. All glory to the Lord.

I pray for my readers that, as in all my books, you will be encouraged in your faith. That’s why I like writing about second chances and reconciliation. Because God is all about that, isn’t he? The Bay Town Series is a collection of stand-alone books. Still, the returning characters, after facing their own troubles and tragedies, help their neighbors as they face similar trials. 2 Corinthians 1:4-5 instructs us to do just that. Some characters choose the right path, and some don’t, just like in real life. But God’s promised hope is extended to all.

Shaded Goodness comes full circle from book one. Melanie Thompson Brooks champions through tragedy in the prequel and in Shattered Guilt. Her growth enables her to serve as the guiding voice to Jacquie Dupree in Shaded Goodness. With similar backgrounds, the pain of their pasts threatens to unravel their future. You won’t need to read Shattered Guilt, Book One, to enjoy Shaded Goodness, Book Five, but I think you’ll want to go back and get to know the lovely people of Bay Town through Restored Grace (First Place in the National Excellence in Writing competition), Shadowed Doubt, and Ransomed Peace. I think you’ll find some good friends and wish they really were your neighbors.

I hope you’ll fall in love with the setting where I lived for a short time as a child. It’s why I set my books in the deep south of Mississippi. Where life was slower, and the small-town community came together for events and rallied and prayed for one another during difficulties, much like the body of Christ should. Come on down to Bay Town; it just may become home.
