ABOUT THE BOOK

lady of a thousand treasures
Title: Lady of a Thousand Treasures
Author: Sandra Byrd
Publisher: Tyndale House
Release Date: October 9, 2018
Genre: Historical/Gothic Romance

Miss Eleanor Sheffield is a talented evaluator of antiquities, trained to know the difference between a genuine artifact and a fraud. But with her father’s passing and her uncle’s decline into dementia, the family business is at risk. In the Victorian era, unmarried Eleanor cannot run Sheffield Brothers alone.
The death of a longtime client, Baron Lydney, offers an unexpected complication when Eleanor is appointed the temporary trustee of the baron’s legendary collection. She must choose whether to donate the priceless treasures to a museum or allow them to pass to the baron’s only living son, Harry—the man who broke Eleanor’s heart.

Eleanor distrusts the baron’s motives and her own ability to be unbiased regarding Harry’s future. Harry claims to still love her and Eleanor yearns to believe him, but his mysterious comments and actions fuel her doubts. When she learns an Italian beauty accompanied him on his return to England, her lingering hope for a future with Harry dims.

With the threat of debtor’s prison closing in, Eleanor knows that donating the baron’s collection would win her favor among potential clients, saving Sheffield Brothers. But the more time she spends with Harry, the more her faith in him grows. Might Harry be worthy of his inheritance, and her heart, after all? As pressures mount and time runs out, Eleanor must decide whom she can trust—who in her life is false or true, brass or gold—and what is meant to be treasured.

Excerpt:
He left me and did not return when he said he would. Not once, but twice.

Marguerite waited for me to speak, and finally I did, after a realization. “This collection was my father’s as much as the late Lord Lydney’s. I must see this honestly through—where would it be best placed?—though it’s most likely that in the end, I will come to the same conclusion his father did.”

Delivering those valuable objets d’art to the South Kensington Museum would be a fine means by which to serve justice to the new Lord Lydney,” she said. “Is that what you intend?”

Does Harry know you are his champion?”

I am your champion, dearest. But I have witnessed several occasions when you were happy together and I want to see you happy again—under whatever circumstances make that possible. I don’t want you to rush toward a justice which may not be just.”

To check out more about the book, take a listen and watch to the Author talk about the book:

 About the Author:

Debora M. Coty is a popular humorist, speaker, and award-winning author of numerous inspirational books, including the bestselling Too Blessed to be Stressed line. Deb considers herself a tennis junkie and choco-athlete (meaning she exercises just so she can eat more chocolate). A retired piano teacher and orthopedic occupational therapist, Debora currently lives, loves, and laughs in central Florida with her husband, Chuck, and three grandbuddies and one grandprincess.

 My Thoughts and Review:

A Mom's life is always busy, probably filled with chaos of all kinds and sometimes stressed. Debora M. Coty created this book to help the Frazzled Mom. The book consists of 25 short chapters. At the end of each chapter are some questions. I felt "challenged" by the questions at the end of each chapter. Challenged in a good way and one that really got me thinking about how I handle stress and the busy life of being a mom. Being a mom of 3 Teenage boys, life can get VERY stressful!

The book taught me to look for the blessings in the stress, rather then always being stressed! I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it would also make a great individual study or devotional book.

Book Rating: I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! GREAT Read!!

My Thoughts and Review:

I really enjoy reading Inspirational Romance and was excited about this book, Christmas with the Cowboy. This is book 3 of a 4 book series in a Love Inspired book. I haven't read the first 2 books in the series, YET, but fully intend to.

I dove right into the book as soon as I received it. It started off fast and never stopped. The book is so smooth to read and the storyline gets exciting from the beginning. I tend to read books "without putting it down" when the book starts off as good as this does.

I love how Zach and Emma reignite a "Lost Love" after Emma's becomes a widow. Love can do wonderful things to a person, and that proves true for Zach who usually is "bah humbug", but finds joy when falling in love with Emma again.

If you like Christian Romance and enjoy a fast read, this book is for you!! GREAT book!

Book Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!

About Tori Kelly and the Hiding Place CD
On her new album Hiding Place, L.A.-based singer/songwriter Tori Kelly honors her deepest musical passion and delivers an R&B-infused, infectiously melodic take on classic gospel. The follow-up to her full-length debut Unbreakable Smile—a 2015 release that premiered at #2 on the Billboard 200—Hiding Place finds the co-star of the 2016 feature film Sing teaming up with 12-time Grammy Award-winning gospel legend Kirk Franklin. With a lush yet simply adorned sound beautifully suited to Kelly’s incomparable voice, the Franklin-produced album includes such standouts as the slow-burning, harmony-infused lead single “Help Us to Love” and the powerfully radiant, full-choir-driven “Soul’s Anthem.”

As she embraces gospel’s boundless intensity and pushes her vocal performance like never before, Hiding Place offers up what Franklin refers to as “hope-pop”—a classification that fully resonates with Kelly. “One of the things I want for this album is for people to feel uplifted and encouraged when they listen,” says the 2016 Grammy Award nominee for Best New Artist, who’s now at work on her next pop album. “I want them to know that, no matter what they’re going through, there’s a God who loves them so much and so unconditionally, and there’s always a reason to feel hope. That’s what I really believe in, and I want everyone out there to hear my heart.”

My Thoughts and Review:
I am a new "fan" of Tori Kelly, just discovering her music and talent recently. I listened to the entire CD and it was just AMAZING. The R&B mixed with Pop and also some Gospel, just brings out a soulful and peaceful sound throughout the CD. Tori Kelly has a voice that just calms the soul, yet lifts it up as she sings. My favorite track from this CD was the first release "Never Alone" featuring Kirk Franklin. Take a listen to the song below via the Video.

If you are looking for a soulful and uplifting CD, the Hiding Place by Tori Kelly should go on your "must buy" list!

͞I trusted you, and some day, you may know just how much you hold in your hands.͟

What is not so joyful is finding a strange man sprawled near her delphiniums! The mysterious man is sick, unable to do anything more than drink water—and beg for secrecy. Ignoring all alarm bells, Linda sees to his needs, but her caring act takes on unexpected significance, an unpresentable glory.

Seeds of trust, and perhaps love, are planted in Linda’s garden haven. She attended Wheaton College in Illinois as a music major, then married a pastor/college professor/tree farmer/organist and writer. Together, they have three children and eight grandchildren. Music was Ellie’s first love until she tried on the cloak of writing and found it a comfortable fit. However, early writing attempts saw friends—and even her mother—advising her to stick to music as a career. She pushed manfully along, though, and An Unpresentable Glory is her sixth novel. ͞God first touched me through story,͟ Ellie says, ͞and made the bigger Story come alive. I love Him passionately!͟

My Thoughts and Review:

I began reading An Unpresentable Glory and was at first thinking it was a "lovey" Romance book, although it seems it is it also a lot of real life being told through the main characters.

Jay and Linda, the main characters, are an unlikely couple. They overcome many struggles to eventually form a relationship. The relationship becomes a LOVE story!

The plot takes many twists and turns, but that is what keeps the book wanting to read and finish! Some of the real life topics that were touched upon in this book were mental illness, tragedy, loneliness and politics. I would have never expected those topics to be in a Romance novel, but Author Eleanor Gustafson makes them work within the story line.

The book takes only about 5 minutes before it gets REALLY good and hard to put down! GREAT book!

Book Rating: I give this book 5 out of 5 Stars! Intriguing and Interesting read!
