Release Date: July 1, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Fiction, Romance

͞I trusted you, and some day, you may know just how much you hold in your hands.͟

Linda Jensen leads a relatively quiet life in Westchester County, New York, as the owner of a highly-acclaimed garden. Inherited from her parents, the garden is her pride and joy. What is not so joyful is finding a strange man sprawled near her delphiniums! The mysterious man is sick, unable to do anything more than drink water—and beg for secrecy. Ignoring all alarm bells, Linda sees to his needs, but her caring act takes on unexpected significance, an unpresentable glory.

Seeds of trust, and perhaps love, are planted in Linda’s garden haven. But as secrets are revealed and scandal hits the headlines, the act of caring for this man threatens to tarnish both of their reputations. Like weeds in Linda’s garden, circumstances threaten to choke out their fledgling relationship, and small moments prove to be the biggest influencers—on a national scale.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Verbascum

Ellie grew up in Branchville, NJ, in a county with more cows than people. She attended Wheaton College in Illinois as a music major, then married a pastor/college professor/tree farmer/organist and writer. Together, they have three children and eight grandchildren. Music was Ellie’s first love until she tried on the cloak of writing and found it a comfortable fit. However, early writing attempts saw friends—and even her mother—advising her to stick to music as a career. She pushed manfully along, though, and An Unpresentable Glory is her sixth novel. ͞God first touched me through story,͟ Ellie says, ͞and made the bigger Story come alive. I love Him passionately!͟

My Thoughts and Review:

I began reading An Unpresentable Glory and was at first thinking it was a "lovey" Romance book, although it seems it is it also a lot of real life being told through the main characters.

Jay and Linda, the main characters, are an unlikely couple. They overcome many struggles to eventually form a relationship. The relationship becomes a LOVE story!

The plot takes many twists and turns, but that is what keeps the book wanting to read and finish! Some of the real life topics that were touched upon in this book were mental illness, tragedy, loneliness and politics. I would have never expected those topics to be in a Romance novel, but Author Eleanor Gustafson makes them work within the story line.

The book takes only about 5 minutes before it gets REALLY good and hard to put down! GREAT book!

Book Rating: I give this book 5 out of 5 Stars! Intriguing and Interesting read!

About the book:

Straight from the pens of Amish and Mennonite women . . .

Ever wish you could visit with a group of Amish or Mennonite women over a cup of coffee? In the pages of Homespun, Amish and Plain Mennonite women swap stories and spin yarns while we listen in. Lorilee Craker, bestselling author of Money Secrets of the Amish, collects these personal writings about hospitality, home, grief, joy, and walks with God. Hear from one woman who struggles with feeling inferior to her sister, from another about her longing for a baby, and from a third who accidentally bought stretchy material to sew her husband’s pants. Each woman’s story is a testament to the grace of God and the blessings of community.

Behind Amish romance novels and tourist spots and television shows stand real people, with longings and loves just like the rest of us. Every Amish and Mennonite woman has a story. In Homespun, you get to hear some of them.

JustRead Tours: Mourning Dove Blog Tour and Review

Mourning Dove blog tour

Welcome to the blog tour & giveaway for Mourning Dove by Claire Fullerton, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

ABOUT THE BOOK

mourning dove Title: Mourning Dove
Author: Claire Fullerton
Publisher: Firefly Southern Fiction
Release Date: June 29, 2018
Genre: Southern Fiction, Family Life

"An accurate and heart-wrenching picture of the sensibilities of the American South." Kirkus Book Reviews

The heart has a home when it has an ally.

If Millie Crossan doesn't know anything else, she knows this one truth simply because her brother Finley grew up beside her. Charismatic Finley, eighteen months her senior, becomes Millie's guide when their mother Posey leaves their father and moves her children from Minnesota to Memphis shortly after Millie's tenth birthday.

Memphis is a world foreign to Millie and Finley. This is the 1970s Memphis, the genteel world of their mother's upbringing and vastly different from anything they've ever known. Here they are the outsiders. Here, they only have each other. And here, as the years fold over themselves, they mature in a manicured Southern culture where they learn firsthand that much of what glitters isn't gold. Nuance, tradition, and Southern eccentrics flavor Millie and Finley's world as they find their way to belonging.

But what hidden variables take their shared history to leave both brother and sister at such disparate ends?

My Thoughts and Review:

The book started out slow and I thought I wasn't going to get through the book. Ohh, how I was WRONG. Chapter 3 things started to pick up and I got really into the storyline and book.

I at first was taken aback about "Family Drama" in this book. I continued to read and be intrigued, as this is REAL life with many families nowadays. The love between Brother and Sister grows as they learn they need to "lean on one another" as they encounter trials and tribulations of life.

Mourning Dove is a book that proves time and time again that once you get into the thick of the book, it is HARD to put it down.

Book Rating:
I give Mourning Dove 4 out of 5 Stars. Good book, yet slow at the start.

Read with Audra Blog Tour: Dangerous to Know by Megan Whitson Lee

About the Book:

“Don’t look at him, dear. He’s dangerous.”

Isabella Bankmill seeks a husband whose character matches her list of requirements. The man must share her faith, but he must also possess a certain je ne sais quoi. The enigmatical Lord Gregory Gordon Bromby—London’s newest literary sensation—certainly possesses the latter. Despite a deformed foot and alarming views on politics and religion, he attracts the ladies in droves.

Haunted by his past and overwhelmed by his newfound celebrity status, Lord Bromby’s obsession with his own doom leads to reckless behavior. When he is stalked by an obsessive aristocrat seeking an elopement, Bromby’s friends urge him to marry a suitable lady as soon as possible. Intrigued by Isabella’s convictions and hoping to avoid further scandal, Bromby proposes to Isabella.

Isabella also receives an offer of marriage from kind-hearted philanthropist, David Beringer—a man equally devoted to his faith—but she only has eyes for Lord Bromby. Blinded by his talent and good looks, Isabella convinces herself that he’s not as dangerous as everyone claims. But when Bromby’s world violently collides with hers, Isabella must decide once and for all who is lord of her life. God or Bromby?

About the Author:

Megan Whitson Lee is an anglophile and a recovering runaway. Over the years, she escaped to England and Australia before finally settling down in the US. These days, she lives a relatively quiet life as a wife, a mom of two greyhounds, an editor for Pelican Book Group, and a high school English teacher. She now escapes by writing novels instead of jumping on planes to foreign countries. Her novel, Captives, won the 2016 Director's Choice Award and was a finalist for a Selah Award in the women's contemporary fiction category at Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference.

Megan writes women's contemporary thrillers and historical fiction featuring characters standing at the crossroads of major life decisions.

My Thoughts and Review:

I have never read any of Megan Whitson Lee's books, so I was very interested in reading a book from a "New to me Author". The synopsis of the book also intrigued me. I was not disappointed.

The book did start off as a slow read, but picked up around Chapter 4. The characters, Isabella and Lord George Gordon Byron, make the story inviting and turns the book from a slow moving to a "can't put this book down" story.

I really like that Isabella is seeking a man who is also a believer, like herself. The book intertwines Historcial, Christian beliefs and Romance all in one and for me that is truly awesome. I like all 3 genres, but to have them intertwined in one is AMAZING!

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The slow going start is what has me holding back from 5 stars. GREAT book!

A GREAT book for those who like Historcial, Romance and/or Christian Genres!
